Oh goody. It is update day. The joy of Microsoft Windows updates swells my heart as I look at the little icon on the bottom of the screen telling me that it is time to obey and install the latest updates to my computer. Maybe if it was just one computer, I would not dread this so much. But I have three computers that I have to update. So that is three computers that I have to click "Yes, I am ready for you to attempt to destory my computer." Oh wait, it is not meant to destory my computer. It is an unfortunate accident if the update causes my computer to do weird things afterwards. And maybe I would be less annoyed if I was not trying to actually work today. My livelihood depends upon me sitting in front of a keyboard, punching sentences in. But no, we must break the flow of the writing to install the update. Who knows how many updates? And how many restarts? And will my anti-virus program decide that the updates are actually viruses? It could happen. Ahh yes, it makes you glad that it is Windows update day, doesn't it?

Of course we love it! And it's extra joy if we do the update and find out... oh boy... another update is available! Woohoo! Oh and if that happens on a Server where it takes 15 minutes to shutdown and another 15 minutes to load, that's pure euphoria. L O L!

Wow, I thought it was pure FUN to take ten minutes to shutdown and restart the oldest computer in the house. I can't imagine the heights of pleasure that thirty minutes of updating joy can bring one to.

Goody indeed. I went through a day last week stuck in security update hell. I don't know much about computers, especially Microsoft and I don't have any computer friends who can help. So, when I went to the Microsoft "help & support" section I couldn't believe the number of rat holes I followed trying to get an answer. The experience broke me as a phone call I made to Microsoft ended in tears and curses. I wish you well on your updates today and I do hope you do not allow such annoyances as this to disturb your peace of mind like I let happen last week.

I know that our IT department HATES this day. They've got about 30 systems to update and they have to come in at midnight so it doesn't have a large effect on our customers.

well it doesnt really bother me because its just one button and you can start from doing your own thing again. well the restart is a bother but i always postpone it for 4 hours so it wouldnt bother me that much. well i have compared a vista recently updated to the one that is not and the updated one is much faster so i think its ok to update if they can make it work faster and such

The updates don't really bother me that much. I'm GLAD they're updating. Because if they weren't, I'd be SCREWED. I mean, by updating, at least they're trying to keep their computers running safely. The only annoyance is the restarting. Usually it updates automatically and I get stuck in the middle of a schoolwork assignment when it automatically decides to restart. It's such a pain, but I'm glad that Microsoft is keeping tabs on their systems and improving them. It's better then having a computer that is on the verge of exploding, isn't it?
