RhoGam---harmful??

I just recently found out that I am Rh- and my boyfriend is positive. So my doctor wants me to get 2 shots of RhoGam. 1 during pregnancy and 1 after depending on whether the baby has a positive or negative blood type. Since finding that out, I have been researching what it contains and all of that. I have read that it used to be made with thimerosal which contains mercury. Also reading that 49% of these children that had a mother get this shot have developed autism and other problems. This is my first pregnancy so I want to be cautious. And just because RhoGam isn't being made with thimerosal anymore doesn't mean that the shelf life doesn't allow it to still be used. They haven't prohibited it from being used. Is there anyone that has had this shot at all? I'd like to hear all sides.
