Climat is changing. What to do?

Temperatures are going up, summers are hotter than usual, winter is longer than normal, icebergs are unfreezing, water-level is growing, desease are increasing... Human behaviour has so many effects on earth and atmosphere that many people are getting frightened, others don't worry about this problem. What are you doing on respect? Or what could/shall we do to avoid a big desaster? Any idea how to stop it? Of course, it's a problem which concern everybody so each person should do a part to help.

there are a lot of ways to save our environment. and, if we all do at least one simple task, it would have an impact to our planet. let me count off things we could do: 1. plant trees; 2. save water - do not keep water running; when washing the car or bathing pets, use the pail instead of a running hose 3. save current - turn off light and equipment when not in use; 4. avoid activities that add pollution like smoking; 5. proper garbage disposal - separate biodegradable from non-biodegradable; recyclable matters may be recycled or reused 6. reduce too much use of plastic; 7. reduce too much use of paper (paper come from trees and a lot of trees get cut down just to make them); use both sides of the paper 8. avoid using too much styrofoam ( when these things are crushed, they emit gas that is dangerous to the environment); 9. use your own bag when going shopping at the groceries - some groceries now allow this; 10. contribute to organizations that aim to save the environment like WWF-world wildlife foundation; 11. avoid throwing trash just anywhere; look for garbage cans maybe there are a lot more small things we can do to contribute

Thank you for your time and sharing this information with us. Maybe, with the help of all users, we will be able to enlarge this very interesting list. So let me add up another point: 12. Maybe we could share our car with our friends, family, colleges...when we go to work or on an excursion or shopping or even take the bus instead. 13. Use more candles instead of electric light. 14. Use more cold water and less hot water....

Yes! See, everyone can think of something that could help. It may be a small thing, but if a lot of people do it, the impact would be huge. So let us count off some more: 15.In relation to 12, maybe we could use vehicles that require less or no fuel at all! Like in China, a lot of people travel using the bicycle. It's cheaper, healthier and reduces traffic(which reduces air pollution, too!) 16. Buy equipments (like the refrigerator) that is uses less electricity.

we can simply help by recyling and doing all the stuff that is possible for even a person to do..because we can't like 'stop' the global warming..of course the big contries like america an d japan should put this matter ahead..nowadays everything done in i big scale..just look at the amount of rubbish..the thickness of smoke..and even worse..the human attitude who likes to blame others for this problem..if everyone is aware and try to amke it better by doing their part.it can help...

This is correct, I agree with you. It is very easy to say: "it is not my fault". I use a car, but I did not invent it. But we could try to reduce all those activities which may damage our universe.

Lack of common sense is causing the changes in our environment. Water levels are not increasing. They are just returning to previous normal levels. A normal level that is allows the earth to be balanced, and healthy. We have suffered from low water levels due to man. Storage of water that normally would be recycled by the earth, put back into the atmosphere, and then dispersed as needed. A huge majority of the earths water supply is kept, and stored. Water acts as a coolant for our earth. Water in the air is cooled by winds, and helps to lessen the heat of the sun. Since there has been lower levels of that coolant in our environment the earth has begun to fix the problem. This is why ice melting, to increase the amount of moisture in the atmosphere, and keep the earth properly balanced. There's not much you can do though. People's greed, and fears have gotten us here. Just let the ice melt.

Some people feel they have to scare others into doing the right thing. So they make up these crazy stories about global warming, and the sun melting your face off, or the earth running out of natural resources. You can't really blame them though, because without fear, people won't listen. We do need to stop pollution, and be more careful with our environment, but we need to have common sense too. Polar bears aren't going to die because the ice is melting. Polar bears do not live on ice. And p.s. the ice melting isn't going to raise the water by any noticeable amount. The movies with New York, and other world cities flooding is fiction.

hi,camomile07, Thisis all human made mistakes lie irrgular usaeof pastic, deforestation,Industrial reen house gases... Apart from water,electricity..we are in danger with Global warming,it is the duty of elders to give pollution free environment to the FUTURE GENERATIONS. We are running nearer to the reducing petrolium reserves....what next, that too pollution free alternative energy..think of biodiesel, may be from algae,vegetables,palm,pongamia..JATROPHA.. http://www.newjatrophaworld.com Reduce using plastic ...massive plantation...increase forest area..reduce industrial green house gases...if we effectively follow,we can reduce pollution and protect our environment to SOME EXTENT... All the best.

First I disagree with the statement that everyone should be working to solve a problem which concerns everyone, I think it is better for everyone to focus on their comparative advantage and that should be most efficent for humanity as a whole. Also the fact that climate change affects everyone means that anyone investing in stopping it will only be reaping a proportion of their returns, green is a merit good so it is down to government to regulate. As for what government should be doing I say they should award prizes for useful research, this is better than emissions targets which focus on halting human progress rather than directing it. If we stop progress for the sake of preventing one desaster story we will then fall victim to all the rest; there will be no technology to solve the meteorite or the next SARS.

Yes but by doing what is best for you should be doing good for everyone else. For example if you install solar pannels because it is cheaper than paying your electric bill then you are helping yourself and everyone else. By you using solar pannels you are reducing the pollution and that helps everyone.

Maybe government should resolve it, but government will not be able to resolve everything if we do not help. It is up to everbody to put on his or her part. In my opinion, we have to work together hand in hand, because it is also in our interest to preserve nature.

I do everything I can that is kind to the earth. Switching off power on modems etc., Recycling. Buying the right products that are environmentally friendly, whenever possible. Using less of everything. As long I'm doing my bit, I'm happy.

Yes, it is very important that every person tries to do the best and thinks about what we are able to do to avoid more desasters and, if we are doing so, it really is a reason to be happy about. But it might not be enough, we have to investigate what else we may do.

There are some people that worry about all the problems in the world. There are other people who live life without worrying about anything. However, I am one of those people in between, because I like to have some opinion but not too much. There may be hundreds of people arguing over the fact that we caused it or that we didn't, but the truth is we cannot reverse it, well at least to my knowledge. We need to just enjoy life and allow the scientists to figure it out and not just constantly question them. The change in climate brings new fashions giving more opportunities to certain clothing companies, etc. It all evens out in the end.

I with you. I have an opinion and look a little bit of stuff up but overall I would like to live my life and not worry about everything ending, that seems to me that it would cause mass depression or something.

i have no idea what we can do about this "global warming" because simply we understand the problem and understand results but we are missing the key element solutions there are many but none of them really work in the amount of time we are looking for people say 2012 is the last year for humans due to global warming so we might wanna stop this warming soon

And even if we know what to do, there is another question: do we really want to change? One of the global warming cause is the electricity and cars. Are we able to live without electricity and without cars? Do we really want to change?

I think we are able to live with alternative means we just aren't ready to pay the price. Its not economically feasible. Economically speaking it is bad but I think dieing is worse than being in debt.

I don't want to think about this, but it seems everything happening weird nowadays are trying to warn us that doomsday is near. Annanaki2012, the Mayan calendar ending on Dec,21,2012, the Planet X they have seen in our solar system, travelling on a course that would lead to a collision with earth. First time i heard about it, i was in disbelief. But when i saw a lot of youtube revealing the phenomenons leading to that very day, i think this is it! YOu can try watching youtube dealing with annanaki or planet x or doomsday2012.And hope u can tell me if they are making sense at all. Earth has been abused, enough is enough maybe. (^_^)

Yes you are definitely correct our temperature right now is not normal already all we have to do is protect ourselves from the neat of the sun that can cause skin cancer and any other diseases. We cannot stop this kind of climate we had because this is nature and also we called human made. Many reason why it is happening today the unexpected disaster happening in our country today. All we need to do is pray,do good and help lessen the things that can can affect especially throwing our own garbage, preserve our trees and conserve water and electricity.

Humans are supposed to be very intelligent, but maybe it is time to reflect about what we have done and maybe it is still not too late for change.

Every instrument/tool made has its capacity or life span. A cup can hold so much water and mo more. A vehicle can move at its maximum speed and no more. Similarly the world can hold a number of people and when this number is exceeded it breaks up. It can withstand evils done by men upto a degree and when this is exceeded it begins to dismantle itself. Some say that when both of the above happens, nature finds some way like an earthquake, war or some other form of natural disaster to get rid of the excess population. Those who believe in God say that God sends some disaster to punish the evil mankind and purify them. our earth, it seems ,is at the threshold of such a purification. Either we mend our ways or naure/God would force us to do that.
