are acne products really needed?

i was one of those who went to the dermatologist every month when i was in my early twenties. i never seem to run out of breakouts and my derma would know when i used pantene, even once, during the entire span of the month in between visits. i married, had a child and learned to make do with what really works for me. shampoo cannot be no other than the plainest baby shampoo and soap for the face (the common cheap brand which doesn't cause breakouts) would be the soap for the entire body to which i used to suffer breakouts also when i was younger. i don't know if it is just plain age. i still get acne but not a major thing that makes me think of going back to the derma again. am 35 now. i am also not sure if it is just making do with simple products that work for me and sticking to these that lessens the whiteheads i have. what do you say?

I'm 19 years old and I've suffered from acne for awhile. Maybe I should try washing my face with plain soap. I've used Proactiv for years and others that have made me get a ras
