Stop playing the cat...

My guy friend "J" is very sweet. He likes to think he's techie, but really, he's so busy "tinking" around with his equipment that he sometimes is really out of the "loop" on stuff.
For example...
You know the house with the Christmas lights that go with the music from Trans Siberian Orchestra? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmgf60CI_ks
So, the roomie calls it up on her computer and there is "J" doing "air guitar" on the cat in his lap, NOT LOOKING AT IT!
I saw this and said. "Stop playing the cat, you're missing the video."
I mean, really.
He hadn't ever seen this video, but instead of watching it, he's playing the CAT??
what kind of sense is that?
He also doesn't know what a "nom" is (for those of you who don't do LOLCAT" it is the "word" for food in "cat speak". I realize that he hasn't had cable hook up, but he says he has broad band. According to our geek, he also is "tinking" with computer equipment that is so out of date, its a wonder it runs. None the less, "I can has Cheesburger" isn't a site that eats a lot of band width...
He is also obsessed with having "everything", like he has the ability to store "everything" in his one bedroom apartment?
**slaps self on head**
Love ya, "J", but get real!
(would love sometimes to do a "Gibbs slap" on "J"!)
you know anyone like "J"?

I don't think I know anyone like that but he sounds fun. My ex had some of the same characteristics but not all. He played with computers all the time, but he knew everything about them. Much more than me. He did save everything though. One time I was cleaning out the drawers and he had some clothes that were never gonna fit again. They must have been 20 years old. He got very upset when I wanted th throw them out. He had an old Camaro that he was rebuilding. Well he had boxes of Camero parts and a body. He would not move anywhere unless there was a garage for his "car". We had it stored in a garage which caught on fire, and everything was damaged and he still wanted to keep it.

Uhmmm...I don’t think I do know anyone like J but I like him! I can relate to wanting to store ‘everything’ in the one small place, for me it is a security thing for J I am not so sure...I have never played air guitar with the cat and I doubt my kitty would be impressed if I tried! I played the video of the house with the crazy light and all I wanted to do was pretend to be a conductor! Oh, my J and I may have a few things in common (LOL)!

Yeah, he "conducts" too, and that annoys the roomie, tho she hasn't told him that.
She doesn't like to see things like those movements out of the corner of her eye, its because she doesn't see well and things like movement could be something coming toward her, and she has to keep from ducking

Yeah i know someone like him. He'd rather stay at home and do compositions with his piano than go out with us hoping He'd sell them. The piano is missing some strings and a few years old and He'd rather stay with it than have fun with us. I think these kind of people has social issues. Or they don't wanna accept reality.

it doesn't really matter that the piano is old or missing strings, its not even that he doesn't want to go out and have fun, its that he has blinkers on to how to make the music work - and does he actually write these things down or does he just keep tinkering (tinking) with them?
