I have heard of people who watch T.V for the entire day. My dad comes back from work in the afternoon. He switched the T.V on and watches it till night. The T.V is switched off only when he goes for a bath at night and if he has to go out to buy something. All of that put together would mean that he switches the T.V off for maybe just under an hour. And he never gets bored of it. How many hours in a day can you watch T.V?

I watch t.v for only a several hour for the whole day I guess because I only watch anime and some t.v series for a minute or hour. but when I was younger If I'm not mistaken I watch t.v for about 6-9 hours a day because of tons of great anime and that time I kinda like watching cartoons.

6 to 9 hours is a lot even for anime. But great. I somehow tend to be drawn to the PC.

I watch tv for about 5 hours or more, it depends on my mood and the availability of the computer. if I cant use the computer, either because someone is using or it is broken, then I will have to watch television. I also watch television if there's a nice show.

Agreed. There comes a time when one is bored to even play the computer games. There is a saturation point of everything.

I only watch television is the program I am watching is quite interesting. So I could stay long in the television for about 3 hours or more if I am on my favorite program. Especially on sunday. I like the program so I could be on the television for half day just sitting and watching. couch potato .

I agree. The reason why I have started watch TV a little lesser now a days is purely because of the commercial. I mean it has gone to such pits that if I request a serial which is otherwise a half hour program on TV to be played on Youtube, it will be over it five to seven minutes. It gets as ridiculous as that.

A lot of us can become couch potatoes. I love watching TV. But can you imagine there are times when even with more than 100 or so channels, there is really nothing interesting to watch.

only when the programs are good but if it's local tv shows that always have commercials? i don't think so. but unfortunately, tv cables too have commercials like Star Movies but at least it's my favorite movie than the other

Our TV were usually switched on how many hours hmm... about 3-4 hours I guess in the morning, in the afternoon and in evening. I even watched TV even if I'm using mylot. well, I'm addicted to both so I guess I can't remove that habit of mine although we switch the TV if we don't like the shows.

I used to watch TV for long periods of time, but now I watch TV for less than an hour or I dont watch anything. Instead, I end up using the internet for long hours. hahaha I think the new TV is the web.

Because I am busy on my online I can only watch television for 2 hours now. I do not watch much television now a days. When I get home everyday its late and I still have to face my articles. Actually there is nothing to watch in our local channels during weekdays. I only watch one Korean series that dubbed in my language and after that the news and nothing else. My father is the one who watched television that much.

Hello Anuraa. I on the other hand seldom watch tv probably because aside from having not much time since I'm almost always at work, I don't like the home-grown variety shows, telenovelas and primetime shows aired locally here in the Philippines. I prefer to watch American series online like CSI or Criminal minds or sometimes, I try to watch movies online. I like it better than watching home grown television shows.

Well I have to say the Indian scene on TV is improving and degrading. The Reality shows are good, but the soaps and dramas are, well less said the better. I too like to watch the western series like CSI and many others.

It is not just computer illiterates as you would call them. There are so many people who do prefer TV over the computer.

I still maintain what I said in the houses where there is a computer and TV. My cousin for that matter will be on the computer and also watch a few things on TV daily. I myself would watch TV as I cant be at the computer all the time even though the computer I use is all mine and no one else uses it. I still want to watch TV. I personally feel that computers are more impersonal than the TV. TV somehow connects you to other members in the house. Computer is very personal thing.

Hi,anu,i am not talking about populationwise. If that is the case,in India itself there are 1,000,000,000 public viewing T.V's regulrly[Lack of computers] out of 1,360,000,000 population. If there is availability of both TV & Computer in the same house,my equation in the above response works out..what do say...

Some I do give my full attention to. But there are many instances when I am reading and watching at the same time. But usually I am so so tune to multitasking that I can follow both

Most majority of the time when I watch TV is when I am using my laptop and searching the website and looking off and on at what is on the show but most of the time I listen to it as I am online but I don't pay attention most of the time what the show is even about but anyway.

I have the TV on most of the day, though it is usually on in the background while I am doing other things - on the computer, writing letters, cooking, doing housework, etc. I usually have the News on. I do actually sit and concentrate on the TV when my favourite programmes are on, but that's only maybe 1-2 hours a day and the TV is on from maybe 7am till I go to bed around 11pm.

Same here. Many times TV is on as a background necessity. I think I spend an hour watching tv seriously except when there is a movie up. But then I need the tv on whether or not what happens on TV screen registers.

Well, most of the people now could not be considered as addicts on TV, although there still are some. We tend to divert our time to television as a pastime or relaxing venue, in your dad's case, after long days of work. We get valuable information from the TV, at the same time we get to be entertained. We just needed to watch our activities not to make TV viewing an addictive one.

weekends I see it for a longer time as I tend to see the back to back shows of some series I missed during the weekday.
