We were at a friends the other night and as we were leaving we were standing on the front deck talking about snakes and things like that. Now snakes they don't scare me like they do my husband and his friend. But while we were standing there a huge cat in the distance screamed and if they wouldn't of told me it was a bobcat I would of swore from the sound it made it was a mountain lion. They've seen it and they say it is huge. If it's body matched its scream i'll have to believe them. So now that I know we have those things around here I told my husband am not taking the trash can to the road side on wednesday night anymore so if he forgets to drag it out there before work on wednesday and or early thursday morning when he gets off work it isn't getting picked up. I will not go to the mail box in the dark anymore or anything outside unless there is lights around. That scream was one of the worst things I've heard. Do you have any fears like this? Would you go out after? I'll probably forget about it in time but don't think so for awhile. I've gone out in the woods behind his house and hunted in the dark of the early mornin. ummmmm not doing that again either....... lol yes am a big chicken now of bobcats..... They are soooo cute but mean and scarey

Hey Snow... Don't know about where you live, but here my Walmart carries a product called Eliminator. It's in the Lawn & Garden Department. They have an Ant, Flea & Tick killer & a Fire Ant Killer. Last year my yard was nothing but mounds of Fire Ants. That is, until I spread the Ant, Flea & Tick Killer. The Fire Ants left too & my dogs didn't have Fleas ALL summer. This stuff lasts for about 3 months so I put it down twice. I think it ended up costing me about $30 for the year but was well worth it as I didn't have to buy the expensive flea killer for the dogs all year. It also cut down on the number of spiders that usually show up to haunt me!!! Since you fear Fire Ants, you might want to check into it!!!

I quit going outside at night about 2 years ago. Not because of Bobcats, but because of rabid wild animals!!! We haven't been having Bobcat problems, but there have been a few bears showing up close by. The dog was barking like crazy & I go out to see what had him so upset only to find a rabid fox under my car. That sucker charged at me & I got my azz back in the house where it belonged!!! Fortunately, my car was outside the fence & it couldn't get to where the dog was!!!! I called animal control & they cam out & took the fox off & verified that it was rabid. I also have a MAJOR fear of snakes. They are soooo quiet when they slither around, it makes me EXTREMELY nervous. I've also had a lot of problems with possums coming in the yard to steal the dogs' food. They have sharp teeth & I'm NOT going to give them the opportunity to chomp on my ankles!!! Having no one to take out my trash for me, I take it out in the morning they pick it up...or I take it out BEFORE dark the afternoon before pickup!!!
