They Said It Was Small But You Should Have Seen The Size Of This Thing!

They said it was small, but after I bought it I saw the size of it ... and it was ginormous! I was not sure that I could handle something so big. It was a little intimidating, in fact. Now, I did pay a little extra for it, but I thought that was just for the packaging and would not affect the size of the contents in any way. Boy was I wrong, although admittedly it was a very pleasant surprise. Needless to say, by the time that I was finished with it I was completely satisfied albeit quite full.
So, have you ever bought something thinking that you were paying for one thing only to get another? Did you ever buy something expecting it to be one size and finding out that it was a lot bigger (or maybe even a lot smaller) than you expected? Did you have to pay extra for special packaging?
By the way, just in case you have no idea what I am talking about, for some unexplained reason I had a craving for ice cream yesterday and got one in a waffle cone. Normally you have to pay extra for the waffle cone but get the same amount of ice cream as in a normal cone. However, the size of my small waffle cone was like a large regular cone. It is a good thing I was hungry!

I am sooooo gutted.
And double
I typed this really long response and when I posted it, the internet must have been down for a minute. So I lost all my hard thinking, coming from the heart response. It's a shame you are not going to read that, purply one. Cos, there's no way I'm going to type out all that again, even if I can remember it all.
Anyway, it's about how my 11 months old daughter loves to smear icecream all over her hands, face and anyone who dare stay near her. Oh well.....blistering barnacles, I'll never get that train of thought back. I'm looking forward to my 500 when I can finally paste. Whew!!!!

Oh, I know how you feel, because that used to happen to me all the time before I reached the 500 mark!
Now, I usually copy my response or discussion before I try to post it just in case. Of course, it is usually the times that I forget to do this, especially when I have a long response, that it doesn't work right and I end up losing the whole thing.
Little ones and ice cream are adorable, although I have to admit to being biased about little ones.
So, have you had any pleasant experiences lately where you got something that you weren't expecting that you would like to share with inquiring minds that want to know?

Oh that sounds really good!
That is a fantastic price, too.
I love it when we are able to buy take-out or delivery, which is not very often because we don't have the extra money. It is a really nice change of pace to the usual meals that we have, though, and I don't have the extra dishes to clean not to mention the fact that there is usually some left-overs for breakfast the next morning. If we only had to pay what you did for the amount that you got, on the other hand, we could definitely afford to do it more often.

Sorry,
, in my rage, I forgot what the topic was.
We ordered Home delivery for dinner (one meal cost Rs.90, which is approx $2). We expected it to be small servings and not a lot of dishes at that price. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the package and there were 4 different veg. dishes plus rice and chapatti.
None of us could finish our share!!!

I was not really complaining and was actually quite pleasantly surprised, especially since it seems like these days you are expected to pay more and get less. I was a little worried, however, because it was an extremely hot, humid day, and I wanted the ice cream in my belly not melted all over my clothes. Fortunately, most all of it made it into either my or my little one's mouths.
I really dislike it when I ask for Pepsi and get Coke. I don't mind when the restaurant only has one or the other and tells me beforehand, but if they just bring Coke or Pepsi when you ordered the other, then I think that is rude. If it is in a bottle or can, though, then there is absolutely no excuse and I would have been mad about that.

Bon apetit, purple! Although they say size is not so important as quality
. But if you were satistied, I suppose you not only got a bigger one but also a delicious one
.
I love those surprises. I think they are somehow gifts: you don´t pay for them but it is a given.
You should not wait until you are THAT hungry to quench your appetite (or should I say appetites?
).
HUG!!!

Yes, they do say that quality is more important than size, but I am not entirely sure whether or not it is only the smaller ones that are saying that!
I can tell you that this one definitely had both size and quality, and the little one apparently agreed with me, too.
I like the way that you think about things like this ... that they are gifts. That is a wonderful way to view it, and it makes these "gifts" even more enjoyable. I am not surprised that you have a lovely way of looking at it, though, since you are so lovely yourself!

Oh you are much more than an ol' witch and you know it!
You are right, though, that the seemingly smallest little things can drastically change your mood and perspective. Sometimes it just takes a smile or one kind word to brighten someone's entire day, and when that happens the rewards are greater than you could every imagine from such a "small" act.

There was a pizza place called Obelix (the comic character). I went in and I saw the pizzas they had! There was one that was named "Obelix"! I was really hungry and I said what the hell! I will order that!
Now the pizza cost like $7 so I was pretty sure that was of medium size!
Hell, they brought me a 1 meter radius pizza!!!!!! I was able to eat only the half of it and I did that with lot of effort!!!!!

LOL! Pizza sounds really good right now!
That is super cheap for pizza here. I think that you could probably get a small pizza with one topping for that around here, unless one of the stores is running a promotional deal or something. So what kind of toppings were on this pizza, anyway?
Also, who is Obelix?

LOL! Well, maybe scared is a little overstating it, but I was definitely intimidated by the size of it, especially since it was an extremely hot, humid day and I wanted it in my stomach rather than all over my clothes.
The name of the ice cream was "Strawberry twist", and this place uses real fruit in their ice cream instead of some prepackaged mix, so it is super delicious!
So, you did not share a story with me ...

Oh no! That is awful! Are you allergic to them or did you just make such a mess that you were stained and covered in strawberry juice for two days? Either way, I definitely think that it would be safer if you just stuck to the artificial mix!

I will share with you my experience with strawberries. It is a dangerous fruit. I know that since the age of 8 or 9 : I ate around two pounds of strawberries in a field, and was covered with red patches during two days. I will choose the artificial mix

I know that just about every place charges extra for waffle cones, even though they usually put the same amount of ice cream in them as they do in the regular cones. It really was a very pleasant surprise, though, when I got so much more than I had expected for my money!

I didn't get a notifier for this one - you didn't want to share this time huh?
I cannot imagine whatever size it must have been if you found it intimidating. Do you always have to be done with it in one go no matter how big it is? Never save any for later?
I have never been disappointed because something was bigger than I was expecting but I have been disappointed when something was smaller. Not long ago I was expecting a knock on the door around 8 pm and I was expecting a whopper! It was my day off and I was really looking forward to having the entire evening to be able to deal with it slowly. What a shock when I opened the door and saw it wasn't the one that I was expecting at all. He was holding it with only one hand whereas the one that was supposed to be coming would have needed two. That was my first disappointment.
The rest came when I opened the box and saw that the topping was not the one that I had ordered at all. I guess they got the orders mixed up! I don't like olives on my pizza but I had to have them that night

LOL @ Val getting the one that was supposed to be going to you! That makes perfect sense!
I have been a good girl and resisted the temptation, too, but it is really getting difficult, especially now that it is getting close to dinner time. It is WAY too hot to do homemade, though, and too expensive to order out, so I guess that we will just be having hamburgers - at least they are the special kind with cheese and coleslaw.
"He was holding it with only one hand ... very disappointing" I think that I have missed out on something ... then again, I don't think that I missed out on anything at all!

I am sorry that you did not get a notifier on this. Of course I wanted to share ... we are talking about the discussion, right?
LOL! Yes, it does have to be quite large for me to find it intimidating, but how did you know? In my defense, it was a very hot, humid day, and I wanted it in my belly rather than all over my clothes. There are some things that need to be finished all in one sitting no matter how large or small they are, but others I can manage to save some for later ... five minutes still counts as "later", right?
You don't like olives on your pizza? I do. They are really good, although I do not like them as the only topping. They do go very nicely with pepperoni and mushrooms or sausage and mushrooms, though. By the way, did you read Val's response? He was talking about pizza, too, although his experience was entirely different from yours. All this talk of pizza has me really craving it right now!

hi purple wow okay glad that was explained ;today I am feeling queasy for whatever reason but a large waffle cone with some rocky road ice cream well that would cure whatever is wrong. Glad you got more for your money . Just thinking about the time we had a cloud burst in tustin a few years back and I came out from the vons to go across to pick up my prescriptions and I was soaking wet so I went into the donut shop to get a cup of coffee. I ordered a large one as I was sopping wet and cold and my teeth were chattering. but I never expected this huge cup of coffee it was not just large it was super super large. Yet she only charged me for a large cup of coffee.boy did that hotcoffee taste so good and she threw in four little donut holes, they were so good too.

Oh that does sound like just the thing to hit the spot, though ... a hot cup of coffee when you are cold and wet, especially when you got more than you thought you were going to get.
It was really nice that the lady gave you a few donut holes, too. I bet that they tasted even better, since they were free!

Its rare when you expect something and you get delighted from it. In most cases, there would be disappointment, especially if it was a delivery.
I would have loved to see this ice cream. Maybe when I go there, Id get to have that particular flavor and in that particular shop. Of course, that's just only wishful thinking.^_^

If you wish, hope and plan long enough and hard enough, then eventually many of them will come true.
Unfortunately, I hope that by the time you make it over to this side of the world, I will have relocated. I am sure that we can find another place that has really good ice cream after I move, though, and I will have to make it a priority to try each and every place until I find one that is close to the one near my house now ... and don't worry about my sacrifice, because I am sure it will be worth it in the end.

Oh yes, generally when you are getting things, especially if you have to pay extra for them, they tend to be less than what you were expecting or hoping to have, which really is quite contrary, because you should be able to expect more when you have to pay extra for it. If you do get over this way, though, then you most definitely have to go to this ice cream shop. It is only open for part of the year, but the ice cream is fantastic, and you definitely get your moneys worth.
Happy New Year to you as well, and I hope that the holidays were wonderful for you and your family.

On second thought, perhaps you shouldn't answer that question - lol!
I can understand why you might be unhappy with getting less, even though it does seem to be the trend these days that we have to pay more and get less. However, there have been several responses on here where people got less and were very surprised and thrilled about it. Less is not always a bad thing, but it does depend on what you expect and what you actually get. For instance, getting billed less for more merchandise would be a very happy surprise, especially if it was merchandise that I wanted.

I was expecting some guests yesterday. I quickly went to a shop close by and asked the salesman if they had ice cream in big cups. He said they had and so I ordered for 10 cups but he said that in a pack one has 12. So I ordered for the full pack and when I opened the pack I was shocked to see small cups in there. I called up the shop and showed my displeasure. Though I was charged for the small cups the attender was lazy to look for the large cups and palmed off the small cups. I created a shindig and promptly they home delivered the larger cups and took the difference in amount. I checked the pack just in time. Imagine serving those tiny cups!!

It is a really good thing that you checked before your guests arrived, and all you had were the small cups.
I would have been really angry, too, even if they had only charged me for the small cups, because that is obviously not what you wanted and you made that perfectly clear to the attendant. Laziness is definitely no excuse, especially when you are in a customer service type job.
It is great that when you called to complain, however, not only did the store home deliver the right merchandise but also gave them to you at the same price as the smaller ones, although it was definitely a good idea to check immediately to make sure they were the right ones the second time. It is great when a potentially embarrassing situation works itself out into a happy little bonus.

LOL @ what your ex-girlfriend said!
When it comes to food, I have felt the exact same way. Sometimes it is like getting a great bonus and other times you wonder how many people they think are really going to share one plate of food, especially when it is something that really does not lend itself to being put in a "doggie-bag". Now that my little one is a bit older, however, I don't seem to have this problem as much any more as long as it is something that she likes - lol!
*passes Mario some ice cream* Here, you can have some just as long as you don't let my little one see it. Otherwise, good luck getting any yourself!

LOL! I guess you have a point about guys like being referred to as "ginormous and intimidating", even if it is in regards to their overall physique. I have a friend that is overweight but also very strong and muscular. I wasn't extremely large but I was by no means small, either, and most of my body weight was muscle. We were joking around one day and he wanted me to move, so I told him he was going to have to make me. He picked me up with one arm and moved me with ease completely to the other side of him like I was no bigger than a small child. Now that is definitely ginormous and intimidating.
By the way, you had better hurry up and eat that ice cream, because my little one is headed towards the bushes ... she must have spotted your food!

LOL! I have experienced that, too. I got a box in the mail that was a present for my little one. I had absolutely no idea what it was, but from the size of the box it looked like it was going to be huge. It turned out to be something really small (and also inappropriate for her age, but that's an entirely different story
), but it had a ton of bubble wrapping filling up the rest of the package. We had a lot more fun popping all the bubbles in the wrapping than we did with her present.

Alice, isn't it a lot of fun? The loud noise scared my little one at first but at the same time it also intrigued her. She wasn't quite sure whether or not she liked it, but she made me keep doing it anyway. Finally, I helped her to do some, too, and she was laughing and having a ball with it.
It was adorable, because she would close her eyes at the same time that she squeezed like it was going to hurt her or something but she would let out this huge giggle while she was doing it.
As for what the present was, I bet that you can guess, but if you can't, then I will definitely PM you with the details of the contents of the package.

Haha, I was a bit curious to know what you were talking about! I am getting annoyed about how much smaller chocolate bars are getting in this country!

Yeah, it is almost impossible to find a full sized candy bar these days! I can appreciate that people are being encouraged to be mindful of serving size, eat less sweets, eat fewer calories, and just be healthier. However, when you want a candy bar, I think you should be able to have a candy bar rather than have to eat six to eight "bite sized pieces" to quench your appetite.
And don't even try to make a S'more out of those tiny pieces of chocolate candy.

Can't think of an example, but it's a whole lot more likely that it was less rather than more. More I would have remembered...

*hands Dawn some ice cream* So, have you ever bought something and got more (or maybe less) than you expected to get? Was it a good thing or a bad thing?

I am glad that I piqued your curiosity and made you laugh. I am not entirely sure what you mean when you say that you are trying not to think in a "green" way, though.
Have you ever been pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised when you bought something thinking that it was going to be one thing and finding out that it was not what you thought it was going to be after all? Do you have a story to share?
