For most of the time, first impression doesn't last on me. I have seen people who looks strict but then, they are not. I met some people whom I think of will never be close to me but as days pass by, we became good friends.Somehow I also met a friend of mine whom even at at the first time I met him, I think he is a serious type. As time goes by, nothing changes, and it proves me I am correct with my first impression with him. Do you have similar experiences? Does first impression really last?

You're right, it doesn't last although it is important. If you consider job interviews or panel interviews for getting promoted then you'll consider it important. I guess it'll also last to them if you don't meet them often but when it comes to mingling, it doesn't really last.

About job interview, first impression is really important. That is why, we must strive hard to be perfect on everything. The first impression of the one who will do the interview can make you get the job or reject you from getting the job.

Nope, not to me. I've met some people whom I hated for some reason, I guess it was a bad first impression. But after a while, we became great friends, its like that saying 'Don't judge a book by its cover'.
Usually thats how I meet with my past girlfriends, I first become friends with her, nothing out of the ordinary the first time meeting her. But as time goes by, the more time I spend with her, the more I notice how lovely she was.
Well thats just one example.

"Don't judge the book" by its cover is widely known but few only practices that adage. We can really know a person if we stay longer with him or her. They say that you will find out what is the real character of a person once you are already living under one roof.

yes i feel the first impression lasts very long compared to any impression after that, or else you need to create another impression a which is very difficult and takes a long time as compared to the first impression

First impressions can certainly last. There are people who when a person first meets them appear unlikeable, but upon further inspection prove to be decent people. And then there are other cases where a person appears kind but is really a jerk. But generally people can get an inkling of someone when getting to meet a person for the first time.

Nope. I have met a girl who hated me (i couldn't even get her number or even looked at her before you saw that she felt uncomfortable) but I loved her so much. As time progress though she became crazily in love with me.
So to me first impression never last. Although i hate to give new companions a bad first impression that will make it harder for me to get along with them at the beginning of the good friendship.

I really think not entirely. Some may feel that way but for me based on numerous experiences, First impression does not really last. I met someone who really noisy and I was annoyed by it. But after a few more times we chilled out, he happened to be really cool and now we are close friends. So,it really depends on how you make that impression last.

Some of my first impression last for a very long time. Some never change until now. Some exceed my first impression to worse. I know first impression is not always correct and we have to look deeper than that but that still apply to some. I guess some people do reflect their real personality that we can read them like a book.

i think there is a difference between impression and experience.
Yes i agree with the fact that first impression is the last impression. When you go to some unknown people then your first impression works only. And they could treat you on the basis of that only.
Now when you are not comfortable with people because you have experienced with them and that is not good.

Hi annierose
I have found that this statement is all so true "You can't judge a book by it's cover" Something like that anyways. However, there are times when I did judge and I was totally wrong. Therefore, I try not to be so quick in judging another.
Take care

Based on experience, first impression does not last. I'm always seen as someone to be arrogant and a snob but most of the time, they, (who are now my closest friends) take it back Lol. When I do have a negative first impression of a person, the first thing I do is talk to them, get to know them. That way, I don't spit and then eat it...
