Now and days a lot of people use dryers. When I lived in the country with my grandparents we would hang our clothes outside on the clothing line to dry. Is there anyone out there that still dry their clothes on a clothes line outside?

hi there. where i come from, i benefit from sun. we do not live in buildings. we have the opportunity to hang our clothes in clothesline and have them dried under the sun. nothing smells cleaner than a sun-dried cloth. when i went to another country, i had to live in a flat on a building. during my whole stay, i had to rely on the air circulating from the aircon just get my clothes dry. we cannot hang our clothes outside because it is not allowed.

Yes, it really does depend on where you live. Some areas will not allow you to have a clothline. I do agree with you your clothes do smell cleaner and fresh.

In our house we use dryer for our clothes but we also hang it to allow air pass through it and for sunlight too. Clothes that are not dried up fully leaves foul smell so we make it a point that though we put it in dryer, we will still hang it to avoid odor

There are plenty of people who do. I cant because of where we live right now, but soon when we move I will. I much prefer my clothes dried on the line. Less energy, natural bleach, and the smell so much better!

They really do smell so much better. That seems to be a big plus.

Yeah, I dry my clothes outside. When you drive on backroads up here there are some huge clotheslines. Some places, clotheslines are against the law, Ive heard, but not up here.

Yes, I guess it really does depend on where you stay. If you stay in a subdivision they probably would have rules against that. I live in a subdivision but it is a older subdivision and we do not pay dues or have any rules that would prohibit it. I would be able to have a clothline in my backyard.

I still do. I spin-dry my clothes first. It takes out a lot of the excess water from the clothes. My clothes are just a little damp when I take them out of the spinner. I hang them outside to dry. It takes only about an hour for them to get completely dry depending on the weather.

You can save alot of money when you are not using a dyer and you are hanging them outside for the sun to dry them. Then you would not need to add any frabic sheets to them. The smell is natural and clean.

It depends on where you live. If you live in an area where the climate is cold, or cold half of the year you can't really hang your clothes out to dry. But if you live in a warm climate area then I would definitely choose to hang your clothes out to dry. Save money. And I don't know why but sun dried clothes smell better than clothes that have been dried in a dryer. There's lots of chemicals you can add to your clothes, and dryer sheets you can put with them to try and imitate that fresh smell, but they just don't compare.

Yes I must agree if your clothes are hanged outside they do smell better. The dryer sheets as you said can not be compared to hanging them outside and allowing the sun to dry them.

Depends on what clothes. A lot of clothes I will dry outside just because it's better for the material than to dry it (delicate sweaters, blouses, etc) but mainly I stick with using the dryer. It's quicker, you dont' have to worry about the weather or your crazy neighbors stealing your stuff, and so on.)

I have to agree with you on that. I would not want to hang my delicates out either. I must admit I never thought about anyone stealing the clothes, but I guess stuff like that does happen.

Think green. That clothes line works great. Even on cold days if the sun is shining, the clothes dry. Clothes smell fresher as well.

We have both outside and inside clothes line. Normally we hang the clothes outside where the Sun will dry them faster. But if we need to go somewhere or wash the clothes during the night, we will hang them inside. It's easier and safer.

The sun does tend to dry them faster, but at least you do have back up plan for the night,

Its really hot here in our country and the electricity rates is really high so I opted with drying clothes outside. Its practical and also gets the job done the same as using dryer.

That is great. In a way I think that it is really better than the dryer. It is just soemthing about allowing your clothes to air dry.

we use both. we dry them first through the dryer then hang them. but not necessarily outside in the sun. we have clothes line in a room and that's where we hang them.

ok, you are the first person to say they use both. You are also the first one to say that you hang them inside. I also hang mines in the bathroom if it is something that I do not want to dry in the dryer.

i hang our clothes outside on the clothing line. i live in a tropical country and i believe that sun dry is better than using dryers. its time consuming.

I do agree the sun dried clothes do smell better. The dryer also uses a lot of electricity.

Absolutely yes during summer season, at least I saved a lot for electricity bills will go crazy if we always dryer. We have clothing line at the back of our place. But during winter there is no way that I can hang the clothes outside. hahaha

Hi, agrant10. My grandmother still dries her clothes out on the clothes line outside. I used to do so too when I was living her with her as well. I have not used the clothes line in about three years now. My husband takes our clothes to the laundromat so they can get dried. I did not really like drying my clothes on the clothes line. Ants used to crawl all over the line and my clothes smelled stale from the outdoor air. I would rather just use the dryer at the laundromat to dry my clothes in.
