Since the U-disk become more and more popular, floppy disks are nearly out of our sight. Have you ever used a computer with a 3.5" floppy disk, or even a 5.4"? What about now?

Mine is a 5 year old computer and it does have a floppy drive . But why use it . There is no use of floppies these days . What can you store for just 1.4MB . There was a time when I used floppies but I am rather changing fast . I have installed a USB.3 PIC card to my system so that I can use it for my new Buffalo 2TB External Hard Disk . Floppies are old fashioned and not of any use today . I am also planning to remove my floppy drive and place another Blu-Ray Disk Drive in that slot . Floppies are just useless . They are not even good as a recovery disk .

What is the really speed of USB3 in your computer? Can it reach the theoretical value?

I had still computer that I used to, but I never used the floppy disk anymore, just the computer with dvd drive. It's Pentium 4 with 2.4 Ghz runs ok but once in a while it breaks down so I had to fix it myself. Oldy computer eh!

Not really I bought that in 2005 but considered it old because It's kinda slow for me and only one cpu not dual core or quad core type so makes me sleep when changing pages eh.

There was rumours as far back as 1998 that the floppy disk was rapidly becoming obsolete, mainly to the growing popularity of writable CDs at the time. I have always been a fan of the floppy disk and have had one in every computer until my current one. I do have a new floppy drive as a spare, but sadly the motherboard on my computer does not support it. I believe that a floppy disk still has value because it can hold a decent number of large spreadsheets and documents, but they are being forced out by the motherboard manufacturers who do not provide the option.

qianyun6, Floppy disks be it the 3.5" or 5.4" are already phased and no longer used. Even the latest desktops or laptops does not have the floppy disk drives any more. I would have to say that it is history for them. Data storage nowadays are basically stored in USB thumb drives or portable disk drives which has a much larger capacity and better portability which makes them literally very handy, useful and easy to carry around. Data are much better protected and uses are much more versatile.
