i am a smoker too so i won't mind that...but even when i was a non-smoker i never refused to date a smoker...it's really mean to do that and what's the point in it?should we separate smokers and make them feel like they have a disease?...every person with common sense if he dates a non -smoker he will make sure he brushed his teeth and eat a gum ...

I have tons of friends who are smokers so no, I am not trying to make smokers sound less human so to speak. I was just curious. I know my Mom is deathly allergic to smoke so we have to be very careful where we sit in a restaurant and such. I know some people worry about 2nd hand smoke from a spouse, so I just thought this might be an interesting topic to explore. Have you dated non smokers much?

Wow, it must take a lot of will power to be a past smoker married to a current smoker. I am glad you are able to support each other. Thanks for replying!

When I was single...I absolutely, flatly refused. Until I woke up one day, and thought, well you can politely ask them not to smoke in front of you, and away from you, or remain dateless. I chose dialogue.

That sounds like you have come up with a good plan for your life. So did you marry a smoker or a nonsmoker?

Well I've been in a relationship with a smoker for the last two years, I love the person he is but hate the fact that he smokes. I will continue to work at getting him to finally quit!!

Wow, good luck with that. I think it would be so very hard to quit smoking. Maybe with support from you, he can make it work for both of you. Please keep us posted.

Great! Thanks for sending me a reply. I appreciate it. I think if you both smoke it is better than if only one of you smokes, but that is just my little messed up thought for the day. lol

Hmm, that's a tough one. I am an ex-smoker so I think I would be more afraid that I would restart smoking. While being around smoke doesn't bother me, I think kissing someone and tasting it would be too much for me.

Oh wow, that would probably be tough. I can understand. Kind of like when I am dieting and my husband walks in with the WHOLE bag of tostitos and starts eating them on the couch with me, but that could be another post. lol I am glad you are not smoking while you are pregnant. I know there is tons of varying opinions on the baby during this time for smoking Moms. Thanks for replying!

I don't like smoking but I wouldn't refuse to date someone if they smoked. I'd possibly try and help them cut down/stop but I'd stick by them and just make sure they had a drink or something to get rid of the taste first. I've been out with a smoker before and just because they smoke doesn't make them any different from us non-smokers.

I agree, they are not any different because they smoke. I just wanted to see if a pattern developed that smokers dated smokers and non smokers dated non smokers or if there was no rhyme or reason. Thanks.
