Nearly 25,000 Facebook users have committed to unplug themselves from the social networking site on Monday. The users are calling their movement to stop using Facebook planning a 'digital suicide'. They are protesting against the website ignoring privacy issues and not being open about their policies. Though 25,000 is a miniscule population of the over 450 million global users of Facebook, the Quit Facebook forum has created quite a buzz in the past few weeks. I am not goign away from Facebook as they are working on privacy issue. I was wondering if you are quiting Facebook? http://ibnlive.in.com/news/25k-people-to-stop-using-facebook-from-today/116649-11.html?from=trhs

It says on the article that Facebook actually admitted its mistake. Are you sure this is true? Because if it is then Facebook users really have a problem. I would still be using Facebook, but I hope the Facebook admin would really correct their mistake like they said or more people will cancel their account.

I am continuing for the same reason that they have admitted the issue and working on that. Thanks for the response.

Been gone from that "time waster" site since last year. Face book be gone! * Info for the future facebook Quitters: Better get ready for about a Months Wait till your account is actually removed. During this time ,you must not log in again or your account will be reactivated. For it seems leaving face book takes much much longer than it does to join it. I didn't care too much for that long wait to get my account removed.

May be they do not want to loose members soon and want to give enough time to reconsider membership. Thanks for the response.

No I am not one of them. 1 - I don't know about this until I read this post. Seriously. 2 - Even if I know, I probably won't quit. Facebook is only for me to play RoE and Yoville. I rarely update or upload pictures. If my friends need me, they'll call instead of checking my Facebook and send messages. So there's nothing private in my page.

No, I'm not one of them. I am happy with facebook and it's very useful to me. It help me to communicate easily with my whole family back home. With regard to the privacy issues, facebook is working on it as well. But for me, the privacy of the information posted on my profile is my personal responsibility. After all, it was me who chooses those being posted so I should be ready to accept the consequences of my action. I believe that there will be no problem if everyone is descipline enough to make their own standards in filtering that information and photos posted in their facebook profiles.

You are welcome. Facebook has been always a part of my daily routine since the day I opened an account with them. See you there!

I'm not one of them, mostly because I have nothing on Facebook that needs to be private. The email I use is my hotmail which is used for sites like that and there is no worry if it was sold or given to a company. I don't have my phone number or anything put on there, or my address. I'll leave Facebook when it becomes obsolete like MySpace did before it. It will eventually happen and then everyone will be moving onto a new thing.

Im not quitting facebook, Im personally not worried about their privacy settings as I dont point anything up on facebook that I wouldnt want people knowing anyway, and I only add people who I actually know, there is not a person on my friends list who I am not sure of. Although when I say that Im not quitting facebook they probably wouldnt notice if I went anyway as I only log on about once a week anyway!

Those who use Facebook infrequently are not at all concerned with the privacy issues raised by whoever is behind this movement. So, that leaves those who frequently use Facebook who are just trying to cure themselves of their addiction. Anyway, while I do have a Facebook account, I'm not that into Facebook. I'm more of a Twitter guy.

I did not quit facebook, because i put nothing personal in facebook.I never put important private information in internet if possible. Beside online banking and financial matters i don put personal information online. However, it quite scare also , sometime it cannot be avoided , for example registeration in mylot do ask personal questions , and we have to give good faith when joining this sites.

i would but that is how so many of my friends keep in contact with each other. I see the reasoning behind leaving due to privacy issues. If it gets really bad i will quit , but untill then ill hold on to my account.
