Clint Eastwood is turning 80 years old today! (Well USA time anyway) Happy Birthday Clint! All this week on a classic movie channel here in Australia they are playing Clint Eastwood films. On Sunday night there was a documentary which was an hour and a half interview with him really and he revealed a lot about his early acting career and some of the movies he has made. After this documentary was the movie "In the line of fire" where Clint plays an old secret service agent. Last night and for the rest of the week they are playing 2 movies each night back to back. I started watching A fistful of dollars last night but I have it already so I did not bother staying up to watch the whole film. It got me thinking about what would be my favourite Clint Eastwood film and I really cannot come up with just one. I like some of his early western films, but I also love the Dirty Harry series as well. Every Which Way But Loose was great as it was a lot funnier than his previous films, Heartbreak Ridge was a great war film and then I like some of his later films like Million Dollar Baby. I have not seen Gran Torino yet, but I have been meaning to rent it out for a while now. So what is your favourite Clint Eastwood film? Have you got just one or are have you got too many favourites like me?

Hi Ann. How are you? He made five Dirty Harry movies between about 1970 and 1988 I think the last one was. The first one was quite a dark movie I felt and they seemed to get lighter and more humorous as they went on. Some of Clint's most famous one liners came from those films. I love them all. The last Dirty Harry film had a very young Jim Carey in it at the start. It is really funny to see him in it.

Hello! Clint Eastwood isn't one of my favorite actors, but I've have seen some of his movies. He have nice biography. On eighty years, he has achieved so much. I would like to watch some of this movies again. It would be nice if on my country, I can see it on television. Million Dollar Baby is very nice movie, and Blood work too. Well, Happy birthday Clint Eastwood. Enjoy your movie nights.

Million Dollar Baby is really good. I have that on DVD. I am not familiar with Blood Work though. Is it one of his more recent films? I have seen just about all of his films that he did early in his career but have missed a few of his more recent ones.

I didn't know Clint was 80 - just a few weeks younger than my hubby. ABC2 has been screening a Clint Eastwood movie for the last few Saturdays. I watched them with my hubby who likes Westerns. I have to agree Clint is a good actor and makes any movie watchable but that type of film isn't exactly my favourite. Last Saturday was the last one of his.

Hi Alice. I didn't mean the last movie Clint made, but the last in the ABC series of his movies. I think they ran one for about 6 Saturday nights but I was away for 3 of them.

I recorded all of the movies of his that were on during that week. They were all more of the more obscure ones that I had not seen before. I still have not watched them all yet!

Yeah - 80! I knew he was getting close but did not realise until I found the documentary and found out that they were doing a whole week on Fox Classics. He is a great actor. A lot of his roles have been similar over the years, but he plays that mysterious and cool character so well. I think that in real life he comes across as a very nice person too.

Remember Rawhide and Rowdy Yates.? I've always had a bit of a crush and a soft spot for Mr Eastwood. Isn't he amazing? He just goes on and on, acting and directing. I'm not much into war movies and I don't remember movies well but Every Which Way But Loose is up there and also Play Misty For Me. I generally watch his movies because I like his characters. Too many favourites for me.

I wish there was more variety with the selection of re-runs instead of TV stations doing the same ones, year after year. You must have pay TV to get that documentary you mentioned?

I have known of the series and Clint's character in Rawhide for many years, but I have only ever seen glimpses of this in documentaries and such. The documentary that I watched the other day had some of this footage and Clint talked about his experiences in the show. He said it was a huge learning curve for him as the scripts were not always great, so he had to improvise his role to bring more life into the character.

Wow... didnt realise he was 6 months older than my mum... Yeah, I think probably "Every Which Way..." has to be up there,- wasn't Bridges of Maddison County one of his too? That was good but in a different way... & Firefox?

Yeah, he has been around a while. A lot of younger people don't realise that he has been acting since the 50's! He was in Bridges of Maddison County, I did not see that one though as it seemed like too much of a "Chick Flick" Firefox? I thought that was just a browser? No, I do remember the film but had forgotten about it. He may have been in it. I can't remember.

Yeah, those two are very funny films. A lot more humour in them than most of his other films. My wife and I share a love of his films also. Clint Eastwood films are always ones that we can both agree on.

I guess I am not a big Clint Eastwood fan, my dad really is, and growing up as the baby girl and my mom and I would watch beauty pageants, you don't usually like the westerns that your dad watches. I did love Every Which Way But Loose as well but only because there was the orangutan in it . I just have always loved animals. I would say my favorite Eastwood movie is a tie between Million Dollar Baby, and Gran Torino. The characters were very similar though, so its hard to be able to decide.

A lot of Clint Eastwood's characters are very similar as that is the role that he plays so well. Every Which Way But Loose is a hilarious film. Clyde the orang-utan made those movies!

The Clint Eastwood film that I loved was Cougan's Bluff, where he goes to New York City and loses his prisoner and then goes out to find him. It is difficult though, because I loved the Spaghetti Westerns, and Dirty Harry. He is just a great actor! 80 Today! Wow, it doesn't seem possible! Happy Birthday Clint! _Derek

Coogan's Bluff is on TV tonight and is the last one in the series of Clint Eastwood films that they have been showing this week. I have been recording each one that I do not have. They have been playing some of his lesser known films such as The Beguiled, Two Mules for Sister Sara and Play Misty For Me. I will be watching his films for weeks to come. It is quite difficult to choose just one of his films isn't it!

hi rawbill I loved most of them but the Gauntlet is one that has stuck in my mind because it was so intriguing as they actually did run a sort of gauntlet, there were crooked police the whole bit, blowing up the house that he and the girl he had arrested the whole thing was exciting and sort of made some kind of sense and that scene with him and the bus on the courthouse steps I was living in Phoenix ariz at the time I saw this.

Hi Hatley, The Gauntlet was a great film. Unfortunately I do not have that one in my Clint Eastwood collection so I have not seen it for over ten years at least. I do remember the house getting fired upon though and the bus. (How could one forget scenes like those) I hope that they play it as part of the Clint Eastwood week here. I have been recording the movies each night that I did not already have. I am extending my collection and will be able to watch them for weeks.

Good morning, U have had a treat getting to see all his good movies. I was always fond of all of them but am not good at remembering titles. I liked the one where he said 'make my day'. Have a great tues.

"Go Ahead, Make My Day" was in the 4th Dirty Harry film called "Sudden Impact". It is one of the all time great lines from a movie I think! He had a few of those one liners that ended up being classics.

I like Clint Eastwood and I can’t believe he’s 80! I have seen a lot of his movies, too many to recall. As a kid I used to love the westerns he was in, I don’t know why because they are not my favourite today! I am a girl so I have to say that ‘Bridges of Madison County’ is a favourite although I enjoyed his coolness in the Dirty Harry films. I haven’t seen Gran Torino either and it is one I definitely want to see soon. Still can’t believe he’s 80!

Hi Paula, he is looking great for an 80 year old. I have not seen Bridges of Madison County but I have seen most of his films. There is a great list of them here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000142/ From memory, I think I have seen 29 of these films.

My husband shares the same birthdate with Clint Eastwood. And since he's a big fan of the actor, he always reminds me of the fact. I don't know if he really likes Clint Eastwood because he's a good actor or because they share the same birth date. Anyhow, Clint Eastwood really has a long life. Actors from his era and even younger ones are gone. Wonder what his secret to longevity is. My favorite Clint Eastwood movie is The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. I love the theme soundtrack. It's so iconic. You should watch Gran Torino. I love that movie. It really fosters his bad boy image even though he played a cranky old man. It's a very nice touching movie.

Clint Eastwood is one of the greatest film icons! I love so maany of his films. From Pale Rider to Dirty harry to Grsn Torino! Not only has he accomplished so much as an actor, he is also a tremendous director. His work in politics has brought him much acclaim as well. Happy Birthday Clint Eastwood! We love you!

I think that when you are a fan of Clint Eastwood, it would be very difficult to find a bad movie in his filmographie. Because Clint Eastwood is always Clint Easwood, no matter what character he plays. But the Dirty Harry serie has always been the stand out for me. Gran Torino is a must see. Think of Dirty Harry in retirement at 75... and still kicking a.se. lol

You are right, Clint is and will always be Clint and if you like his style then you are bound to like his movies. I have always been a fan of his films and try to keep up with all of his new movies, but I have not seen many of the latest ones. I think I will have to get back up to date with them. I love the Dirty Harry series too and am looking forward to seeing Gran Torino. I imagined it would be more of the Dirty Harry style.

this calls for a clint eastwood movie marathon. will start and end it off with 'gran torino'. not so sure what to watch in-between but should be a good time considering how great clint eastwood films are.

I have seen only 3 Clint Eastwood movies and they are Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good,Bad and the Ugly since they are all Westerns and i am fond of Westerns. I haven`t seen any other films of his and probably won`t either. I saw these 3 movies when they first came out and not being a movie buff i do not think i would be interested in seeing any of his other films. However he is a great actor and director and on his turning 80 i wish him many more years of good film making.

Wow, you saw them when they first came out! Well he has made lots of great westerns since then. I think you should see some of them as I think some of them are better than those 3 that you have seen.

I know in the US too. I watched Pale Rider and Josey Wells on Saturday. I love his movies and I just adore him. He is one of the best actor and directors around today. At 80 he seems to be still going strong which I just love. Maybe its because he has a younger wife and young children. The children I heard keeps you young. Happy Birthday to Clint Eastwood, love him forever.

I watched The Outlaw Josey Wales a few months ago. It is one that I have and like watch from time to time. I have Pale Rider too, but I have not watched that for years. I think he seems younger because he is so fit and active still. He has looked after his health over the years and kept a positive mindset which has allowed him to stay young.

Wow I did not know it was his birthday today!! That is great!! Happy Birthday to him!! I can not believe he is that old!!! I have seen all his movies and I liked all of them!! He does not seem that old does he? I think it is because he has kept himself really fit throughout the years that he seems younger. I have only seen one of his films that I did not like and that Bronco Billy. That is not a bad strike rate out of the 30 or so films of his that I have seen. I have heard that Gran Torino is good so thanks for not spoiling it for me!

Clint Eastwood is my favorite since my childhood. I don't remember him first movie I watched when I was 9 years old. In that he was a cowboy and though I didn't understand the movie, one man had captured my mind and that was Clint Eastwood. Thereon I started watching in and every movie of Clint Eastwood. Where Eagles Dare, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly etc. and the recently In the line of Fire. I really loved his moves and salute this hero who has set a benchmark for a cowboy role.

The man is a legend, that is for sure. Was Where Eagles Dare a war film? I think I saw that one in the 80's but I am not sure. There are too many to remember them all.
