I always pick up pennies if I see them, because I collect them and put them in a jar and when I have it pretty full, I put it in the bank.

If I do not have problems in gathering coins of the soil, if rightly I see them and they are for my way I seize them, sometimes I pretend a bit but other times it is not important for me if they see me. Here in the Argentine one the currency of minor value is that of 5 cents.

Heck yes! Anyone who doesn't is stupid! I just don't pick up pennies I'll pick up any coin I find! It doesn't add up! When I have a lot of change saved up I get it counted out and it goes right in my Christmas Club acount!

I pick them up but probably for a different reason than most. Many think of it is just money but there is a old saying about pennies from heaven. It shows/reminds you that there is always someone up above watching over you and ocassionally they will send you a reminder of being there. The funny thing is we start assoicating them with people that have passed on. Just this past weekend we were on our way to the NASCAR event and we stopped to fuel up. When I got out of the truck there laid two pennies on the ground. One was from my aunt, whose husband we were camping with and the other my great aunt who was one of the biggest NASCAR fans I knew.

Yes, i know of at least one gal who threw them down because she did not want to fuss with them. We have a small jar to drop them in and they add up for our young grandchildren.

I don't care if the penny is dirty... I will pick it up! I remember when I was teaching, I would pick the loose change I found throughout the school and was made fun of by the students... I thought the kids were really dumb wasting their parent's money like that. I would joke, 'I add every piece of change I find to my retirement fund~~~ do you think teaching you fools makes a lot of money?' It adds up... everytime I hit the park I make nearly a quarter worth of change... not too shabby... added around 136.00 last year alone. How's that for the dummies who shuck their coins?!
