A while ago we were told how much better for us agave honey was than sugar.
What is agave honey?
Agave nectar is actually a sweetener that is produced from the agave plant and, although it has about same calories in it as normal sugar, it’s about twice as sweet so you use less;it also has a low glycemic index which means it won’t cause a spike in your blood sugar, leading to a “sugar crash” later on.
We were told for a while that this stuff was 'healthy', but suddenly it seems not!!
It seems that low glycemic index does not mean healthy. This honey is virtually pure fructose(a natural sugar found infruit)and this is metabolized directly by the liver, which is different from other sugars, and can lead to fatty liver deposits. High fructose intake has also now been linked to weight gain, insulin resistance, and heart disease risk in animal studies.
AGGHHH
I do wish that 'they' would make up their minds!!
Do you use agave honey?
What is your opinion on this matter?

Hi Olchem, If I avoided everything they said were bad for me I would never eat of drink so I go by the motto, everything in moderation, I love honey and don't intend to stop eating because of this. It is the exesses of things that are dangerous I guess. Off out today to find my wild garlic :). Huggles. Ellie :D
