well thats a pretty superficial explanation of the problem but it might be not a problem in the memory but in the drivers of the processor/chipset, did you try updating the drivers? usually the low performance of the processors eradicate there. specially with different technology , the Pentium D is a dual core processor and if you are using windows xp it wanst originally designed for that. for that reason an upadte in the firmware drivers might give you the boost you were waiting for. in theory the processor pentium D 2.8 have better overall performance than his old brother the pentium pro. another option I recommend you is to keep the OS up to date.

Thanx for reply..bt i m using windows XP on both 2.8 or 3.0 Pentium-D and both are updated regularly..then why 2.8 is working so slow in comparison of 3.0 Processor.2.8ghz,1gb ram is slower than the 3.0ghz,512Mb ram.3.0ghz 512Mb is working very faster than 2.8 with 1gb ram.

Maybe there is no problem with the processors or in ram check your cpu temperature, high temperature can greatly affect the performance of your computer. Good Day...

P-D 3.0ghz is higher than P-D 2.8ghz... the higher the processor the higher the process it can make... That is why the P-D 3.0ghz is faster than P-D 2.8 ghz...
