Have you or Would you get plastic surgery?

I've never been a big fan of plastic surgery. I think most of the time it's just vain. There are some instances where I can see plastic surgery being necessary.. like if you're deformed in some way.. or lobsided. I am considering getting plastic surgery to remove my excess skin around my tummy and chest. Perhaps that is a little vain too.. skin is something I could certainly live with, but I really hate the way it looks and it brings down my self esteem. Have you ever gotten plastic surgery? What for? Would you get plastic surgery if you could afford to, or had the need to? Under what circumstances? Do you think it's vain to want to get excess skin removed after multiple pregnancies and weight loss?

I will never be doing this plastic surgery for any reason because first of all I am very afraid to do so, then it costs a fortune and finally I do not simply wish to do it. People who do it for getting better beauty attraction then I would say they are running after something which will never last longer.

I don't think you would need any plastic surgery ;-). If I will have plastic surgery I would have it on my feet because they are too big.

I don't think it is vain to want skin removed after having been through many pregnancies or dealing with the aftermath of a lot of weight loss. I think it makes sense. If one has the money, or the way to do it, I would say go for it. And if a man would object, I say puh-lease. Make them pregnant, and let's see how they like the excess skin they have afterward.

Men get plastic surgery too... isn't hair plugs a form of plastic surgery? It at least ranks up there. I heard that The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, had lipo on his boobs, lol.

I guess it is vain but I would definitely consider it after I have kids. Right now there's nothing that I hate enough to go under the knife for but everything is also still where it belongs, lol. I think the only thing I would seriously consider surgery for would be having the excess skin removed. It's one of those things that you can't do anything about short of cosmetic surgery and that's the part that makes it seem a lot more understandable. (Haha, 'You're so Vain' is actually playing on the radio right now!)

Yeah.. I believe it's justified. Sure I could just live with it, consider it war wounds. A friend at the gym calls it her "mommy tummy". An ex-obese girl figures empty skin is better than full skin (though I'll bet she'll get it done someday too). But this is something I've lived with for 13 years and it's progressively gotten worse. I'm 30 years old, I shouldn't look like I'm 80!

I'm fine with it so long as I have the money to have it. We all know how expensive it is to have the procedure. If I had the money, I would also want to make a few changes with my body.

I think if I had the money, I'd so "surface" things. No cutting, just stuff like getting stretch marks lasered away or something.

I've never had it, and at my age there is probably no point in worrying about it now, but I don't always think it is vanity that makes people get surgery (of course the injured or deformed have obvious reasons). I think sometimes people get "fixed" because they have such low self esteem that they can't see their own beauty. I believe that is what happened to Michael Jackson. He was a beautiful child, but he kept having his face re-done. It used to be required to get counseling before elective surgery to prevent that kind of thing, but I don't think it is anymore. Pity. Do you want the excess skin removed so your jeans will fit, or so you can wear a string bikini? There are degrees of vanity, so I will let it go with this: do what you are comfortable with, but if you keep feeling like you need more, go to a counselor. Good luck!

I will never wear a bikini of any sort.. too many stretch marks and other nasty scars! My jeans do fit.. but I still look fat because of the skin. I just want to be comfortable with what I see in the mirror. I don't expect to be super model thin or anything like that...

Well, I have never yet had plastic surgery and in some ways the thought of it terrifies me and horrifies me. However, I do have a stomach that makes me look as if I am still pregnant! I used to be a competitive gymnast and had great stomach muscles, then I had four babies in 5 1/2 years and my stomach has looked pregnant ever since. I know I need to lose some weight, but even when I have, my stomach is the last place the weight goes from. So I might consider a tummy tuck in that kind of circumstance.

I am not scared of having the surgery... not sure why. I know it will hurt. I had my gall bladder removed and the pain in my abdomen from that, which was laproscopic, was pretty severe. Doing anything with my abs was really hard. I know a more invasive surgery on my tummy would only be 10 times worse.. but for some reason it doesn't scare me, the pain is only temporary. It is really hard to lose fat on your tummy. I've lost over 75 pounds, and even though my tummy has shrunk, it still looks fat, and I think that's mostly from the skin.

It is impossible for me to do the plastic surgery. I don't like it. It is not natural. I am pleased to my look and I don't want to change it due to any kinds of surgery. Surgery is painful and it will have some risks anyway. I don't want to take a risk in this aspect. I love China

I think I would probably get cosmetic surgery if I was both able to afford it and not scared of how much pain I might be afterwards! My friend lost absolutely loads of weigth and she is now healthier however she has a tonne of loose skin and this now still weighs a good 4-5 stone! It seems silly to walk around carrying all that weight from skin when she has worked so hard to lose the excess fat in the first place!! If she did get it removed it would make her healthier again because she would then be able to tone up and be generally fitter still which is good as then she can be happier and more able to play with her kids which is what she says she would have it doen for. I think I would for the same reasons in a way as in the summer even though I am not very big I tend to feel bulky and my legs sometimes rub a bit on my upper inner thighs and it would be nice if this didn't happen as then I would be more comfortable and it would be for that reason alone not to be vain as such and to look good! Although of course on a different scale many do have surgery when they really do not need it for very vain reasons! lol

Congrats to your friend. The after pains are temporary, so I'm not at all concerned about that. I'm really not nervous, scared, or worried about any aspect of the surgery aside from affording it. I'm hoping maybe to do it next spring with my income tax returns.

I would only consider plastic surgery if it was to repair damage as a result of an accident. Damage that is severe and can interfere with my daily life. Doing it in order to get a nicer nose or lips or boobs or whatever, when there is nothing physically wrong with them is...well...crazy is what I think it is.

Have not gotten anything done YET. Hehehe. I think if I have the money, I would definitely have some of the fat in my arms and tummy taken out. It's just hard to exercise it away!! It's overly frustrating, and I told myself many times that if ever I get rich, that's the first thing that I would do. LOL.

Hello katsmeow1213, No I would not get plastic surgery. So far knock on wood I never needed any. Why do something that you do not need unless it is not working right etc. like loss arm or limb or something you were mawled by a dog on the face. You are only asking for complications down the road. it may look nice now what 20 years from now etc.. All the germs in the hopsital and mistakes surgeons make. Not for me. Thanks and have a great day Sincerely Unique16

well i think plastic surgery is very scary. . . i would never do it if there is no actual need for it! plus the surgery has its drawback tooo . . .even if i've money, i don think that i would go for it1 regarding removing the skin near the tummy and stuff can be done through exercises too right! probably if nothing worked , one can go for the surgery!

Exercise will not change skin.. only the fat and muscle under the skin, and as far as I'm concerned I've done all I can do there.. now I need surgery to finish the job.

I haven't and I won't. I find it pointless. God created me a certain way and I'm not going to change that. People need to learn to love the bodies they were given.

What if your body changed for some reason, like an accident or illness or injury of some sort that left you scarred and deformed? You wouldn't consider changing your look then?

Though almost everyone has been taught that don't judge a book by its appearance,i have to say that in today's society especially mordern city one's appearance still plays some parts in both subjective and objective aspects of our life. It can affect our confidence, spirit situation , success rate of job interview and many other things so on. the love of beauty is nature of human beings, but we can choose many other ways to change our appearance like playing sports, healthy diets and so on, plastic surgery is just one of these ways but exactly not the best choice. But it is obvious the fastest and the most effective way, so i maintain neutrality about plastic surgery cause i think it is reasonable for its existence.I don't think your choice is vain ,but i must remind you that remember keeping healthy diet in the future and wish you become more and more beautiful :)

Hi there Katsmeow To answer your question and to be quite frank with you I feel that I would get a little nip or a tuck done if I had da money to just blow like that. But it wouldn't be anything major I can assure you. I realize that there are risk involved with any surgical procedure but I do feel that the benefits can sometimes outweigh the risk and if it would help my self esteem then why not?

I have never had any type of plastic surgery performed. I have never even considered it. I guess i am not vain enough to take this as a prcedure to consider being worthwhile to me. The only possibility for me to have plastic surgery would be if it was life threatening not to have it.

Hello! I never had a plastic surgery and, I do not want it at least for now. I am not a big fan of the plastic surgery. I do not suggested it to others. Why people want to do this surgery. When people do this surgery they lost they real identity. Why we need this? The girls want bigger boobs, smaller noise, beautiful lips. I agree we all want to be beautiful, but it is possible without surgery, I think. All popstars, filmstars do plastic surgerys. But, when they do surgerys some of them look worse like before. Why M. Jackson do a plastic surgery? He look very nice with brown skin.
