Any other ways to cook chicken without adding a sauce?

I feel like making some chicken tonight. That is the one food that everyone in the house seems to like eating. Thank goodness. I need some new ideas to cook the chicken though. Usually when I cook chicken I will either put some barbeque sauce on it and then cook in on the grill or in the oven. Another way that I cook chicken is I will pour some sesame ginger dressing on it to cook it differently. Also there are times that I will make chicken parmesan which has tomato sauce and mozarella cheese on it. So now I'm looking for some other ways to cook the chicken without any kind of sauces on it. I'm thinking maybe some herbs and just a little pepper but I'm not sure what types of herbs to use besides maybe rosemary. Any ideas out there?

garlic, basil, oregano, olive oil, onion, parsley, cayenne.... just a couple of ideas. I also like to bake-fry chicken,. This is alot healthier. I get the chicken ready, breaded or just seasoned, put on baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and then bake at about 400 for about 45 minutes but watch it. It gives a taste of fried chicken with out the fat.

I saw a great idea for chicken on TV. They crushed those onion things in a can (can't remember what they're called), then rolled the chicken in egg, then in the crushed onion things, then baked the chicken. It looked VERY yummy! I'm thinking of trying that. Also, if you have Jerk seasoning, or can get some, coat the chicken with that. It gives the chicken enough of a 'zip' to be interesting but not too spicy. My husband, who almost never cooks, does make some very good Jerk chicken. I've poured soy sauce over chicken then baked it. It was very good. I've also coated chicken with Italian salad dressing (the kind in the bottle, not the dry stuff, although that would work, too) and baked it. My sons, who were extremely picky eaters at the time, loved that chicken! I bake most of my chicken. If I grill it, I always boil it first, to make sure it's cooked thoroughly. Normally, though, I bake it. It's healthier, especially if you have the chicken sitting on something to raise it up above the dripping fat. Oh! You know what I LOVE? Emeril's (BAM!) Original Essence seasoning. It's great on all meats, vegetables, almost anything, except maybe ice cream. I put it on my chicken quite often, even if I'm using something else like soy sauce. I also put it in pasta and potato salads... yummy! Good luck with your chicken. Let us know what you end up doing with it, k?

I would love those recipes. My kids on the other hand probably wouldn't. Maybe I'll try it one day anyone. You never know what the kids may wind up liking.

Well I've got chicken cooking in the oven right now as I'm typing this. My husband is on a health kick now, and he's staying away from most meats, like bacon and sausage and beef, but he still eats chicken, so I've been trying to come up with creative ways to cook it too. The chicken I'm cooking now, is breaded with rice crispies, since he's staying away from anything fried and breaded. I just put rice crispies in a bag and mashed them up with a rolling pin, I melted some butter and put salt and pepper in it, then rolled the chicken in the butter mixture then rolled it in the rice crispies, and stuck them in the oven. We'll see how it turns out in a little bit, its simple.

The recipe I tried last night turned out good with the rice crispies, my husband said it was a keeper. Next time I'll try the cornflakes, its a good alternative to frying and breading the chicken.

Hi i had tried this as a student-when i was too lazy to do work in the kitchen - what I did was slice a lot of onions, a little coriander leaves, some mint leaves if you feel, very little oil then put all this in a saucepan along with small cut chicken pieces,( if you want you can marinate the chicken in a little curds before hand) cover with a lid and let it simmer on a slow fire for a long time when it is about to finish( you can open the lid and see or test)you can add salt & pepper and even some chillies or its powder, and even garlic & ginger- tastes great - trust me. The curds if used gives a slight edge rather than having completely dry. Happy cooking!!!

My beau loves chicken very much. He prepared a chicken before and what he do is that he let the chicken boiled in garlic and onion until the water is gone. then after that put some pepper and salt. Then he put some mixed vegetables like corn, green peas and carrots. That's his chicken mixed vegetables. He just made it by himself.

Also grilled corn goes good with chicken you just take some corn on the cob and wrap it in tin foil then put it on the grill. It makes it taste real juicy and with butter very good.

My family likes garlic chicken. I just sprinkle a little garlic powder on them and some minced garlic. They love it and my husband only likes the basics. Another would be lemon pepper. You find it in the spices.

We just love chicken cooked the old simple way: garnished with salt and deep fried. Voila! Everybody gets to eat much. Salt is still the number one taste-provider. No fancy sauces for me.

Do you use a deep fryer to put the chicken in or just a deep pan with oil?

There is simple way which is steam method, cut some ginger, tomato, some salt, long onions and steam the chicken. This is oriental style. Not sure whether other culture do it this way. Some like to debone the chicken ,some like the deskin the chicken. So it depends on your taste and health conscience. Because they said the skin has plenty of cholesterol. For me the skin is yumppy and juicy.Well one man meat maybe another man poison.Bon appetite.

I roll mine in bread crumbs that have been flavored with herb, salt and pepper. The put on a rack and bake in the over 350 degrees for about one hour. Chicken stays moist and no sauce is required.
