I go to the market only once a week, normally on a saturday because it's my day off. I find that I have to cook them at most a day after I bought them so that they are still good. But sometimes I want to cook seafood again in the middle of the week because they are easy to prepare. Unfortunately, I won't have any left and I can't go back to the market or supermarket. Any suggestions on how to properly store seafood so they will last a week?

For squid I cook it and put it in a container with the cooking water. Then I put it in the freezer. As for shrimp, I would do as I do with veggies. Dump them into boiling water, take them out immediatly and place them in airtight (or as much as possible) bags in the freezer. I would place them in quantities that will be used in one occation.

If you put them in the freezer, they can be as good even longer than a week. If you plan the buy a lot, maybe you can put them in small containers and just use small portions , in that way you wont have to put everything out when you defrost it.

We usually freeze our shrimps as soon as we get home. Sometimes, we buy the already frozen kind too. When cooked, it's actually the same as fresh shrimps, sometimes even fresher!
