Can we still rise after all these happenings in our society? Corruption is everywhere nowadays. Even in schools they exist specially from teachers. Specially in public schools. Eventhough DEPED already anounce that enrolment is free but there are still schools that are asking for enrolment fee.

I have to disagree that it is the teachers who are corrupt in your example. It is not the teachers who decide to collect fees, most probably the principal or the superintendent hiding the fees under different names. In most instances, I cannot blame the principal because DEPED issues an order that there would be no collection of fees but does not give money for the expenses. It is a fact of life that we need money in this world. They cannot expect ID or books to materialize out of nothing. The state of our education is really sad.

I agree with you mspitot. Really the Deped the issued the no collection fee during enrollment but they permitted to give Boyscout and Girlscout tickets, Red Cross tickets to the teachers. What the teachers should do, give it free to the parents of enrolees? Poor teachers they are always the target of criticism.

hey, dont generalize..it's not corruption from teachers. other dep ed schools are forced to collect money during enrolment because the budget intended for their school dont reach them. maybe it went to other's pockets but not on the teachers.so they have nothing left to do but to collect from students just to sustain the school. you just dont know the sacrifices made by teachers. they even get money from their pockets when school needs arise and the government could not give a solution.

I graduated in a public schools a few years back and when I was there, I was incharge of keeping the student body's money. I had the money deposited in an account and I was never short of anything not even 25 cents. Teachers exercised corruption in our school when my adviser told me to withdraw a certain amount of money from the students money because the teachers are going to buy it for their uniform since their salaries havent arrived yet. He told me that they are going to pay it back as soon as they receive their salaries but I already graduated and no money was returned. I told the principal about that fact but he doesnt seem to mind. He always changed the subject. I hated my public schools teachers because of that. They are dishonest.

my mother is a public school teacher. they don't collect collect fees at the first day of school for they just follow the order of deped. after the parents teachers association (pta) has been settled, parents come up with projects. those projects are agreed by the parents and not the teacher's decision alone. for other contributions, they collect voluntary contribution, meaning not all are required. those contributions are not just made by the teachers because those are from their division office. schools have pta so for those schools that have some irregularities or unnecessary projects or contributions, the parents and the community can take part or ask the teachers or the pricipal of those projects. but i think that it is unfair to generalize that issue that all public school teachers are corrupt. maybe you don't know much about a life of a public school teacher.

I agree that our society today is full of corrupt practices. From our national government down to our local government to ordinary people to small businesses and vendors. But I strongly disagree with your statement that teachers in public schools especially are corrupt due only to enrollment fee.For your information teachers cannot collect enrollment fees without the approval of the principal, PTA or superintendent.

sssstttt..be careful in your words honey!. You are making a generalization that all teachers are corrupt. Supposed to be you should used count nouns instead of collective nouns. You have violated one of the fallacies in logic, FALLACY OF GENERALIZATION. Fight the issue itself not on the person holding the issue. And you know what there is no such thing as "free" this time. Eventhough DepEd announced that education is free but it does'nt mean that we asked from DepEd to paint our school fence, construct new buildings, re paint our classrooms, provide uniform for the students and brought school supplies for the staff offices. You should know this time that it is not teachers who are corrupt it is maybe the Administrators. Teachers are there to act as stakeholders for the schools. They are not part on the planning of the tuition fee increase nor miscellaneuos fee. These things were done by the Executive Council of the school and it comprises not the teachers but rather the department heads. Teachers part are on the implementation but not on the planning because we have boss up there who knows better than we. So, we can still rise as long as we take part on the solution and not to contribute the proble..
