I think this always happens to veteran players. Perhaps they think that they cannot keep up with the tight European competition. I still remember Gabriel Batistuta playing in Al Arabi, Qatar before he retired. So, I think his decision is understandable and quite normal.

I haven't seen or looked for an official statement from Cannavaro, so I can only try and guess some of his reasons.
After the 2006 World Cup, when he was at the top of his career and form, Cannavaro decided to move to Real Madrid (decision also connected to the relegation of Juventus) where he didn't show the same qualities that won Italy a World Cup Trophy with him as captain. This continued low form made him come back to Juventus, but he continued to play at a not so high level of performance.
It is possible the Juventus is no longer interested in him. Considering that he had reached an age when most football players retire, I think Cannavaro decided to go to Arabia to earn as much as possible in his last years as professional player, especially since a player like him, even if he's not in his best years, is still above the other players in the league.

Yes, Cannavaro will be playing with Al Ahli next season. I think now that Cannavaro's age is catching up with him, he has decided that this world cup would be his international swan song. After this instead of doing some bench warming on one of the bigger clubs, he feels it better to go to one of these smaller clubs which are looking for marquee players and play at the competitive levels which are a bit lower and thus increase his playing career.
Cheers!

Cannavaro has nothing else to prove in the big leagues, he has won almost everything and now he is looking for a good contract now that he is in the end of his career, I think he is right doing it.
He will now get good money and he will be able to retire with no trouble with his future. Besides, Juventus didn't want him to stay because he had a terrible season, but everyone thought that he was going to sign with Napoli and then retire. After all he is thinking about his future.

Because juventus won't need his role next season. Though ac milan is interested with him, he will never want to join with milan as they are juve's rivals in italy, it's his promise for juventinis. I think he is deserve go to al ahly as he was old now. Have a nice day
