Do you agree that obesity is caused by overeating? I am eating a lot i.e. five times a day and yet I do not become obesed. If the statement which says that obesed people are greedy eaters is not proven scientifically, it will be used by many people to stereotype people who have a big size body, branding them as overeaters with bad eating habit. Our discussions on this topic will oblige us to refer to scientific definition of obesity so that the products of our discussions benefit myLotters as good health education.

I am not a doctor or a health expert but I believe that usually obesity is due to too many calories in and not enough out, in other words, it can be a lifestyle issue. There are conditions that can cause weight gain like thyroid problems, eating disorders and genetics. So I don’t think it is always fair to judge a person who is overweight and presume that he or she is a glutton when the person may well have a health condition.

this thing depends on person to person.. if a person eats more and gets fat then its because his body or lifecycle is build in that way. for other people the case is opposite.

Bad eating habit and gluttony (over- eating) could just be one of the reasons but it's not solely the main reason of obesity. Just like you I also eat a lot but I don't gain weight that much. However, I have friends who don't eat as much as I eat but they gain weight faster. I believe that our biological make up has something to do with this as well. Some obese people have health problem. I have one friend who is like that. I think it has something to do with her hormones according to her Doctor. How fast our food gets digest also has something to do with this. There are people who have a very fast metabolism and there are also people who have very slow metabolism. If a person has a very slow metabolism the food gets digest at a slower rate. That's just what I know but I'm not sure if what I know based from my stock knowledge is correct.

The frequency you eat does not really matter, since I know people that eat eight times a day, and yet aren't at all obese! It just matters what you eat and how much activity you have during your day. For real, I hope you don't ever go ON a diet. Because you already might see, if you get ON a diet, one moment you will get OFF and get a higher weight than before. So that's all that matters

The total secret of obesity equals calories in calories out. There may be as many reasons as there are people but the bottom line is if you put more calories in than you spend for any length of time the body will store this as fat.

I think obesity is caused by overeating and inactivity. Some people eat a lot but do a lot of manual activity so they burn what they eat. But some people can't help it because they have hypothyroidism. Even if they don't eat a lot. They still get fat.

hi friend, it is not necessary that a person eat a lot will obese. it is according to your body that you will get obese or not . some people have eat a lot but due to the activity of hormones all your food will be converted to energy and thus never get obese.and those people will be always energetic. some people will eat a small amount but still they have obesity. it is due to the lack of proper functioning of the hormones . they will be always lazy . these all are hormone dependent factors. but you can change your obesity by hard working. if you are ready to work out some time in gym you will loose your weight progressively. any other kind of exercises like swimming and cycling can be done.and thus you can build up a good body.

Obesity is a condition in which excess fat has accumulated in the body, mostly in the subcutaneous tissue. Its ok if you'll 5 times a day, for as long as you're not eating heavily per meal. If you want to eat a lot, and at the same time you don't want to become obese, you can use the small frequent feeding as your way of diet. What will happen there if you eat too much food per meal, the body cannot consumed it anymore, because it's already too much. The result is, it will just be accumulated inside our body and become our fats.
