Finally I got Louise on dog training school (after my family's protest since it was so expensive)!I was excited about it and she will be staying with the handler for 2 months if she do well. I do not know if this is good or not but I obliged. Reason being that the handler says it easier to train if she board in his kennel because training will be enforced and there is consistency.
I just have a question though when you get your dog trained and they board with the handler's kennel are they allowed to stay in the house or outside in cages? Because the handler do not allow them inside his house and I told him Louise has a problem with being left outside the house as she is not used to. He said he will fix that problem. I was not quite sure what he meant.
But aside from all this I am super excited about Louise's obedience class. I know she can do it. Even after what happened I still have faith in her. The handler likes my other dog Missy says she is easier to train. Lol I laughed yup Missy is such a sweetie and Louise quite a challenge that is why I gave her to him to handle and not Missy! My only thing with Missy is she eats a lot lol! For a girl she eats like a boy!

No, I can't believe the trainer said that..Here when a dog gets training the owner takes the dog and they train together, that way not only does the dog know what to do, but the owner as well..Cesar, from dog whisperer says it this way, Most dog problems isn't the dog, but the owner..(Not a quote, but you get my meaning) If the owner doesn't know what to say or do, then how can they tell the dog what to do???
I train my own puppies with a little help from my daughter who is a groomer, but trust me, a groomer has to know how to handle a dog, even an untrained one..I would never let my puppies go anywhere to be train without me..

I get your point carmel, I believe I would have a week to sit in with Louise in her class before she graduates. He is the only trainor here so I guess I would have to oblige. I would have love it if we train together because we will bond more and at the same time I know what to do. I'll be taking a class in another state here and I will be bringing along my bullmastiff Missy to train with. It will be for 2 or 3 weeks I guess. People round me tell me its too much money spent for dogs but I believe it to be rewarding as well and when I get to know the basics of dog training it would be easy for me to train the twins.
You would be laughing if I tell you we do not have a groomer here! I tried trimming Louise's hair on the ear and since I am a newbie it was a haircut gone bad! Good thing I own the dog or else I would have an angry customer! lol. I try to be hands on as possible with my dogs and learning from it. Good thing Missy would not be needing any hair cut just nail trimming!

Oh no, no dog groomer??? Wow, maybe you can talk my daughter into going down there...lol She really is good and would make your dog look like she is ready for a show..Her toy poodle, which I am sharing here, she does herself..she even dyes her lighter colored fur for the holidays..lol
Tell you the truth though, if I have the choices you do, I'd teach myself to train my own dog..You can do this, I trained my first dog by reading and I was only about 9 or 10 at the time...

Hi Carmel,
I would love to talk to your daughter. Grooming is one of the things I like but unfortunately I am not good at it lol. Yup I tried training my dog by myself but I guess there are things I am doing wrong because for 3 weeks were still not getting into the down part. She does not obey when I say stand, stay or sit, she does her own thingy most of the time. So I let a handler train her and I also will enroll myself on dog training classes that way I learn too and can train the rest of my dogs.

My brother is a K9 handler, what handler told you is right.
It is easier to train the dog under their care.
But,with the case of what you've said that, your dog will be staying outside house,
no,the handler wants to say that, your dog will be fine with him.
It doesn't mean that your dog will be staying outside house.
In any training school, every dog had it's own cage,it is a must observed and one standard facilities in every training school for dogs.
Your dog will be fine with the handler, they know well how to treat dogs more than we do,even if we are the dog's owner.
Coz,the handlers knows how to deal with dogs, they had this talent to understand the dog and make an inner communication with dogs.

Hi where is your brother's K9 located? The handler is quite a toghie. He has 2 huge Belgian Tervuren and some dog borders. But as I have seen when I visited his house all the dogs stayed outside in the cage not inside the house.

My personal opinion? I would NEVER "send my dog to a trainer". You can always attendobedience claes with your dogand the both of you learn together. And it's WAY cheaper. Besides, that rainer maybe the best trainer in the world BUT when Louise comes home YOU will still have to be the one to work with her and YOUwill have to be her pack leader.
If you can do so, get your mony back and just go to obedience classes with Louise. Did you even check out the trainer first???

Hi Knewfy,
I would have loved obedience classes but I have not much choice. He is the only one in my place. Yup I checked the trainer first I think he is good. He has 2 well trained champions for Mundioring. The dogs are so well trained.

Well, I've never actually had any of my dogs to have obedience training and when I have considered it for my dogs, it has never been in a situation where they would have been boarded. That said, I am inclined to believe that Louise will be left in a cage at night and she will become used to this over the course of the two months. I wouldn't have any apprehension though because the trainer will not mistreat your baby.
