Today is June 7th, a designated date for Chinese high school graduates to take part in the National College Entrance Examination. It is held for two days, namely, June 7th and 8th. Candidates for the 2010 National College Entrance Examination are now sitting the examination in classrooms, which is one of the greatest moments and experiences in their life. I guess that most of us here have already experienced or are experiencing it. Speaking of China's National College Entrance Examination, it reminds me of the year 1980, in which I attended the examination, when it was so difficult for a candidate to be enrolled by a university or college as there were not enough colleges and universities in the country for the majority of candidates. In those years of the early eighties, more than half of the candidates could not get a chance for college study. Thanks to the fast economic development in the nineties, more and more colleges and universities have been set up for more candidates to be able to have chances to go to college for higher education to get them prepared for their future career and life. Back to the year when I attended the examination, I was very nervous when it was time for the examination. I could not find another word for me to describe my feeling back then. I am wondering how you felt when you took the crucial exam. You are welcome to share your experience and feeling. Thank you in advance for your comment and response. Have a good day!

It was a great experience for me too, back in 1995. The examinations took about a week before it ends. I was quite anxious on the day before the first day of the examinations, until I could hardly fall asleep. Fortunately, I passed the exams with satisfying good result and therefore I was granted the opportunity to enter our local university. I am glad to know that your country is developing at a very fast pace and thus providing abundant tertiary eduction opportunity to the students. Our country is not so lucky. Not only the development is slow, but the local university quota is not fair. They approved the not-so-qualified bumi students, but disapproved the non-bumi students even though they passed the exams with flying colours. This kind of discrimination policy will only make the university quality low and dampen the country advancement.

I can see that your country is very advanced and the students can apply the university through online form submission. In my days, we used to mail the application using postal delivery. We need to wait for months before we know if the application is successful or not. Ya, I know there are other countries having this discriminating quota issue. I hope in the next general election, the existing ruling party will be overthrown. If this come true, then we have the chance to abolish such discriminating policy. Have a good day too, williamjisir!

Morning, cheongyc. I am glad to know that you experienced it and made it successfully in the exam. Today (June 23rd) the results of the college entrance examination will come out and all the students who have attended the exam will be excited to know about it. Then they will fill in the form online to choose the college or university they prefer to go based on their scores or grades in the exam. As to the issue you mentioned, I think that it is not an exception in your country, but in others as well. Have a good day, cheongyc.

Morning, zhuoxi. I am wondering whether your son has already taken the college entrance exam this year. I hope he is doing well. Nowadays there are quite a few students who do not work hard and would give up taking the exam. This generation is so different from us, who worked so hard to pass the exam for college study. I have many students who do not work hard in the first two years of their high school, but only the last few months before taking the college entrance exam, especially boys... Have a good day, zhouxi.

Hi jisir, I have read the latest online news about the situation of students sitting for the National College Entrance Examination in your country today. Many parents or guardian of the kids are seen waiting outside the buildings. It seems that the number of people accompanying the candidates for the entrance of examination has decreased a lot. For they realize that the huge crowd waiting outside the examination hall won't bring any help to the examinees whereas this would make the situation worse and give more tension as well as press to the examinees. It's normal for majority of the candidates, including me as well would feel nervous when we come across such very situation. I remember the time when I sad for such vital examination I felt really nervous until I had to visit the restroom frequently before entering the examination room Might be I was too excited and tense I would have a severe headache after sitting for the last paper Though I didn't let go the happy moment, I still accompanied my classmates and enjoyed having drinks and desserts at the nearby stall and never bother about the ache. I hope your student could score good result and manage to get into their aimed college or university. Take care and have a nice day!

Hello lkbooi. I am so happy to have read your response to this topic of mine. Yeah, this morning the candidates had Chinese examination. Now it is close to 12 o'clock at noon. So they are done with the first examination. I do wish that they did a good job and will do an even better job in the upcoming examinations to be held this afternoon and tomorrow. It is really very fierce and competitive for the candidates to get higher grades to be enrolled by the colleges and universities they wish to. Bless them. Take care, my dear friend. I thank you so much for your comment.
