In the news today in the UK is a story about twin sisters aged nine months who are seriously ill in hospital after a fox entered their home in LONDONand mauled them. I find this amazing that in a city like London foxes would enter a house and do this. Have you heard of such an incident before.

well, no, but you invade into an animal's space and they start invading yours back in the 1980's I saw a gray fox inside the Austin city limits, well inside the city limits, but along a green belt of wildness near an elementary school, a large park and a creek...

I've seen coyote kill pets in parts of Austin that have been built up for years, I've seen raccoons in downtown Austin. Granted, we have a river (impounded now) right down the middle of town, but still... Yeah, they will move back into areas so long as they can find cover.

Don't really think of us invading their space where the incident happened. It was a Victoria house in the city, so the area has been built up for at least 100 years!! Frightening really!

Hi Oldchem, This shocked me too, thoughts and prayers with the family right now poor little darlings. As we become more built up I know foxes do enter the towns and cities to rummage for food frombins etc but no never heard of one going into a house and doing this, very frightening and with windoes and doors open because of the heat right now will put everybody on guard. Perhaps he was injured and unable to catch his own prey and went for babies in cot as they easy prayer bless them. Huggles. Ellie :D

It seems that there could have been two of them, they must have actually gone upstairs. Poor little mites, I do hope that they are OK. Tghe parents must be besides themselves, and I expect feeling guilty!

The parents shouldn't feel guilty as this was such a random attack and if your children are asleep upstairs you don't expect a fox to enter and do this, tragic. I also hope the girls will be ok.

I hope those little girls are okay now and they haven't got serious injuries like disfiguration etc..That would be horrible. Here in my country, but it is not near the city. A child was attacked by a crocodile. I don't know what specie exactly. But it seems like when human beings invade their habitat. Their tranquility is deranged, they tend to attack. The families of fishermen that lived for years there. I very surprised of that incident. Before, they could fish and live with those animals near by, without any danger. Now it seems like, the noises, the motors of the pump boats have caused stress and is changing the animals behavior. Here in the city, we have the appearances of python or constrictor snakes. I think one time they found one in the crib just near the head of an infant. The damages done to our environment, leads them to find for food even in the city. (^^,)

Hiya chem, Never heard of that before I just hope the children are okay now. It must have been ar real shock for this to happen especially in London in the middle of London no one would dream of this happening. In the Street where I used to live there are some Garages there with a sort of very small Orchard beside it and there are Foxes there too. Although they will not come near you they will go into the Gardens at the back sometimes looking for Food. But there have never been incidents like you mention. No one in the Street feeds them either just the opposite and seeing as there are stretches of heath land at the top of the Road I suppose they take refuge up there as there is a lot of marsh land where they cannot build on thank God. I suppose they find their natural food up there somewhere.

Sorry for that... But here in our country, we preferred to have fox inside our home than theft in the night..
