Well I know I used to edit alot of wordpress themes when I had an old blog a few years ago but I had wordpress installed on my own host and I could edit whatever I wanted... but now I have a blog hosted on wordpress and I want to know if I can edit themes there.

You can edit it to some extend but you're limited a bit. I'm in the same situation as you i used to have a host. I even made a seminary work on wordpress but figured out it's better to have host so i won't use wordpress until i get hosting.

I rather grab a theme that is nicely design and edit it to my personal preferences. Starting a new theme will take me to much time and I know that after a while I will want to change my theme, so I have to start working on another theme. So to me it's better if I edit other themes. Do you create your own themes ?
