How you consider buying a house that is fabricated from factories?

On recent discussion of prefabricated house from factory is pretty interesting. Some people even claim that this idea is backed by Warren Buffet, and it is energy - efficient; and much cheaper than those houses built on site. This idea also strike me when I first heard of it. They would build these houses on modular format, and then delivered to the specific location when you will be residing. I wonder if any of houses already built, and anyone is buying it?

My son and his wife had a house put on a basement. It came in three pieces. It is nice, up in several days. He has added porch and it does not look boxy.

Pre Fabricated homes have been around for many years in the United States. Some friends of mine had one and it was built about 10 years ago, but they have been built for much longer than that one. They are built better because they have to travel on the road. One cannot use the standard house building supplies to make a house that has to be transported. The walls are thicker, the beams are larger. However, as far as energy consumption, this house my friends lived in is quite the pig. Maybe it was the design, or poor craftsmanship. Perhaps it was due to the contractor who put the house together. I do not know, but it cost a pretty penny to heat and cool the house. I hope that is not the norm for a house like that.

hi. i've seen this on TV. this is the portable house that you can assemble together with a team, right? i think this is really a breakthrough in architecture. it would probably be cheaper purchasing a vacant lot and a unit of this. is this already available in the Philippines? how much is a rough estimate?
