why earth is round in shape?

1) Gravity and the rotation of the Earth. 2) A basic roundish shape when it BANGed into existence. 3) Earth isn't perfectly round. It's actually a bit bigger around the equator than it is when measured from pole to pole.

Spot on. But didn't it start, as with the rest of the solar system, as a huge disk of rock and gas and other space stuff?

An interesting question. Now, the first thing that comes to my mind is "IS the earth round?" And the answer is no, at least not perfectly round. But it is round compared to your average cube, that is for sure!
