There is a belief that a person shouldn't sleep with her hair wet because it will cause problems, like blindness. Do you believe this? Or do you just sleep with your hair wet?

I do believe in this and it has some scientific explanations why it was said to result to blindness. I don't sleep with my hair being wet because it can also cause headache.

I'm not quite sure about it but my father told me that when you take a bath at night the warmness of your body will all directly go into the eyes that's why most of the time when we take a bath that the eyes were the only one that is warm. Well, better research for it!

Hi, kharlav. I don't sleep with my hair wet. I could never rest properly knowing that my hair is so wet. I would not like the feel of my pillowcase feeling damp and slippery. I know that if I sleep with my hair being wet, I will have a nasty cold when I wake up the next morning too.

Yes, it does get uncomfortable sometimes, if not, most of the time. I guess it just takes time of doing a habit of sleeping with wet hair, that we can not mind the discomfort and the feeling of damp and slippery pillowcase. Thank you for your response.

I have never heard of getting blind from sleeping with your hair wet. I would be really blind all ready because at night i am so tired and if i wash my hair i will just go to bed with wet hair as i don't really care that it is wet. I know some people would blow dry it because they might wake up with curly and frizzy hair. I will just take a straightner to my hair in the morning and be fine to go with my hair in 10 minutes or less. I sleep with wet hair because im lazy at night when i come home from work.

lol. you are funny. I guess it really proves that sleeping on wet hair cant cause blindness... It is good to know that no one really got blindness because of this. This is a good news to those who wants to sleep on wet hair. Thank you for your response. Happy mylotting.

I've heard this only from my grandmother. She also says that reading after meals is bad for digestion, and that watching tv after a bath or a shower can help your eyes go bad :P I sleep with my hair wet sometimes. This is because I shower and shampoo at night. For some reason, shampoo in the evening makes my hair look and feel better as opposed to showering in the morning (my hair feels kinda dry). A lot of my friends sleep while their hair is still wet. One of these friends say that it helps her hair curl up a bit. I experience the same thing. My hair is thick though, and can't enjoy the perks of sleep-curled hair for long :)

Really? I never knew that it is better to shampoo at night. Maybe i'll try that. Anyway, it is just a belief, and not true. Thank you for that information. It is much appreciated.

yeah, I think you'll catch a cold if you sleep on wet hair during winter because it adds to the coldness of the weather. cold weather causes colds. Thank you for your response. Happy mylotting.

we believe those issues as they were told by our elders long time ago. and still is a topic of discussion for sometime. we believe them because we just have much respect to our elders. but if i do sleep with my hair wet, and i don't believe this matter, it does not mean i disrespect them immediately. i just don't get the connection of getting blind from sleeping well when my hair is wet.

I wouldn't go to bed with really wet hair purely from a comfort point of view (I dont want the pillow/bedding to be wet as i dont think thats particularly good for the health), but I'll go to bed with damp hair. I cant see how it might cause blindness... a chill maybe but...

Yeah, I doubt it would. It has been an old belief in my country (since we so many beliefs) that sleeping in wet/damp hair can cause blindness, though no proof has been given. I dont believe in it but I still practice is because I just got used to it and sometimes I feel guilty if I sleep in wet hair.

I never heard that before however I don't sleep with my hair wet simply because it makes it so messy - either a mass of frizz if if I have been restless or totally flat on one side and uber wavy on the other if I am peaceful :)

It is just one of the plain belief in my country, since we have so many beliefs. it is said that sleeping on wet hair can cause blindness. I dont really believe that this is real, but I still practice it (not sleeping on wet hair). Yes, it could really cause a lot of mess which may also cause discomfort. Thank you for the response.

First of all by the looks of your post your from the Philippines... ^_^ Most of these beliefs came from our ancestries. People tend to belief because they are given such things as a consequence of their act... Nice to raise a discussion about such beliefs and queries... ^_^

I don't believe that sleeping with wet hair can cause blindness, but I try to avoid it as much as possible anyway. It gives me this really cold creepy feeling because the pillow gets damp and most of the time, I wake up with a massive headache the next day. So I try to make sure my hair's completely dry before I go to bed :)
