Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that the new "tougher" sanctions imposed on Iran by the UN are annoying like flies or used tissue. The new resolution imposes sanctions on 40 Iranian companies and organizations — 15 linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, 22 involved in nuclear or ballistic missile activities and three linked to the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines. That more than doubles the 35 entities that had been subject to an asset freeze. The sanctions add one individual to the previous list of 40 Iranians subject to an asset freeze — Javad Rahiqi, who heads the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran's Esfahan Nuclear Technology Center. All 41 individuals will also now be subject to a travel ban. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/06/09/diplomats-say-russia-france-dismiss-turkish-brazilian-proposal-iranian-nuclear/?test=latestnews The question at the UN is if these sanctions are out of spite for Iran or legitimate. Iran is laughing. What do you think will come of this? Do you think Iran will stop proliferation? Do you think these sanctions will harm the citizenry? China's Ambassador does not think it will.

These sanctions are a joke it's all a ploy by the admin to say look at us we're doing something, well it's a little to late for that as russia is still going to send the rockets and when armadinajoke finally gets his nukes im afraid Israel is gonna be toast so its up to us to stop the crazy little phyco before he does.because if we dont bomb his nuke bases Israel will and then there's gonna be real trouble. i think we should have taken them out a long time ago, but ole barack baby is still kissin as$ thinking he's gonna get somewhere with them.IT'S LIKE THE BERMS OBAMA IS FINALLY PUTTING UP TO STOP THE OIL FROM REACHING FARTHER ON SHORE, O REALLY AGAIN TO LITTLE TOO LATE

These sanctions were again watered down (to Russia's liking) and will do nothing. They are "annoying", but will they stop the proliferation...no. Will these new sanctions harm the citizenry...maybe a little. But most of all, we'll have to give these new sanctions time to work...to prove they won't work... And if Israel decides not to wait to take out the nuclear facilities, it will be condemned for not waiting to see if the new sanctions worked (which they won't). In my mind, these new sanctions are a total waste...kind of like used tissue.

When I was little I said a naughty word. My father sent me to my room to punish me. As I walked towards my bedroom door I threw back my head and laughed petulantly. “Fine – I don’t mind going to my room. This isn’t a punishment!” I quickly came to regret saying it. My father replied “Fine, I’ll show you what a real punishment is then.” I spent the rest of my Saturday afternoon chopping wood.

laglen, I really do not understand the point of these "sanctions" when oil exports, the lifeblood of Iran's economy, are not affected and banning Iran from some activities that are of no relevance or once again not affecting them. So, what sanctions are we talking about? This is like telling Mahmoud that he cannot buy the Cadillac he owns and that he will be allowed to buy all the Bentley(s). I must be dreaming that is as far as world peace is concern.

I don't think Sanctions will work...why? Because of how they are used. They are not strong enough so they really don't have an effect. Do an oil boycott...let countries stop buying their oil from Iran...you will see them stop. YOu have to hit them where it hurts if you want to have any kind of effect. The UN has not figured that out yet.

What happened if we stopped buying oil from them? If all the countries in the UN stopped buying oil from Iran. It would hurt Iran a lot worse than these sancations. It would do more to deter them from their nuclear program than anything else I have seen them try.

I agree, this is why it is so important that we let our companies drill here and drill safely

well they wont be threatened until all countries accept those sanctions. well it can't be helped that most oil that is exported to some countries came from iran and if they freeze oil production then everyone will suffer.

Awwwwwww, boo hoo. Of course he's annoyed. One day he might have to take responsibility for his own actions, and clean things up, thus proving his current actions wring.
