Men talk

June 10, 2010 9:49am CST
I live with my husaband who like me works from home and he does mechanic work for other people, but what really annoys me is when he gets visitors after work they usually are men and all they seem to talk about is engines, cars and car parts. It's very much like living with someone from Top Gear television programme on in the UK and when they get into these discussions I usually run off and play on the computer as to be honest their talk bores me. Does this happen to you and what should I do to avoid it happening all the time ?

I have some friends that when we all go out for a walk or at a cafe-bar all they do is talk about football, sport bets and all that stuff.

I'm glad its a common thing between other peoples friends and not just my husband as i though I was alone in this as it seems like it sometimes

Have you tried once to understand what their talking about ? I once took part at a discussion about football with my mates and they were very surprised to see me know so many things all of a sudden.

There just too little girls in the world who can listen to their partner. This make it hard for me to find a girlfriend as 100% of the time they are afraid of me. I always thought that the other gender do well with solving problems but what I see is they just run away from it. I'm thinking of remaining single my life.

I have been with my partner 24 years and helped him do cars up, joined in the conversations on how to change an engine, i know how to change a head gasket, gearbox, tyres, do electics in a car and the body work. i have helped sell cars, car parts but when it comes to sitting in with the men talking about these things after 24 tears it bores me. this is not running away but boredom of the same thing

Hi, aquariand. I would just ignore it and if they come over, I will just go to another room to relax in. I would not let it get onto my nerves. I would rather them talk about cars and all, than to talk about messing around with many women. If my husband starts to join in an conversation like this with his visitors, then I know that I will be mad at him.

I usually avoid boring discussions. As for you, i think they'll get it pretty soon enough. I mean, whenever i see someone getting bored about my talk, i just change the subject by asking the other questions about his/her interests.
