Taking my laptop to Canada

I live in England. I am going to be visiting Vancouver in Canada. I wonder if I take my laptop it will work there. I know that I will have to use an international adapter for the electricity plug. Sometimes the voltage system is different. If I did get it to work in the evenings after my sightseeing I would be able to go on to wonderful My Lot. Is it possible to take a laptop and get it to work in a different country? Have you traveled with your laptop?

maximax8, There shouldn't be any problem, all you need is probably a few accessories namely the correct electric plug adapter for your laptop to recharge and/or run on AC. Next will be a fairly long Ethernet network cable (RJ45) where you will need it at places without wireless internet access (WiFi). If you intend to use your current local mobile broadband access in Canada, you may need to register and set up a roaming account. You may need a handbook or a manual on proxy settings required for your laptop. Basically, you just need to prepare ahead.

I've traveled with my laptop before, it seems like I can't bear to part with it for a very long time. Anyway yeah it worked fine for me, except that it was kinda of a hassle since it's a little heavy for my taste. But the thing is, I only went to Asian countries and I bought my laptop in Asia too, so the voltage compatibility wasn't an issue. But yeah, it's great to upload photos as soon as you can when you're having a vacation.

I always take my laptop with me. During my yearly trips to Europe I never had any problems for the last 10 years. It was working fine all over the Europe with the electric convertor.

Hi maximax, it's nice for you to take your laptop to visit Canada, so that you could enjoy doing myLot during your free time there I haven't taken my laptop with me when I go for vacation in foreign countries. For I find it's a burden for me to carry an extra device during the sightseeing in different tourist sites. We usually don't stay in the same hotel during the trip. I bring it along only when visiting local scenic sites. The electric voltage in my place country is 240v, and the one in Taiwan and China is 110 voltage. Therefore I have to bring along with me the voltage changer so that I could get the batteries of my cellphones and camera charged when having vacation there. I think it's the similar when using laptop in countries with different voltage. I hope you could get an appropriate voltage charger as well as the international plug so that you could enjoy getting on to the web during your visit to Vancouver Take care and happy posting

I have never travelled with a laptop but I live in Canada and I believe when it comes to laptops its not that big of an issue. I worked with a phone company and I know phones are a different story because of the frequencies they run on, but when it comes to a laptop i believe that doesnt matter, if your hotel has wifi you can just use their internet, but because of the plugs yes the adapters a must, their not to much money i dont think, around here its like 15 dollars

I think at our latest technology, no problem providing and adaptor to be fit in a certain electricity source. Most common used voltage is 220v unless you live in Japan they used 110v, you need to have a converter or voltage regulator. Bring your laptop to Canada is the best decision you will make so that you won't missed mylot and your any other program. I bought my laptop 1 month after I arrived here in my new location. I don't have laptop in my previous place. If I have of course I will bring although I will passed some checking. Here in Saudi Arabia, you face and experience very strict process of checking.

Yes, it shouldn't be any difficult to use a laptop mostly ny part of the world. there are some exceptions though. It may even be possible that you may not need the adapter also maybe they use the same kind of electric board there too. And yes, I do carry my laptop to wherever I travel. have a happy trip!
