Yes you read it right. This is a photo of one of my tomato plants I have this year. This variety is called, "SUPER" Fantastic variety. It will grow to be from 10 to 12 ounces in size. There's quite a few formed already and they are looking great. This one is roughly about and inch and a half in diameter right now. I also have Early Boy, Early Girl, 2 varieties of grape tomatoes and also a Yellow Pear that I can remember. I tend to throw away the little tags and can't always recall what type I planted. Do you save tags from your garden plants you buy to plant? How many varieties of tomatoes do you plant in any given year? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

As you know, I don't garden. But my grandmother did. And she kept the tags. That way she didn't forget. She typically planted 2 or 3 varieties. I just can't recall which ones.

Not as much as it seems. I give most to my wifes restaraunt actually. I have half the tomatoes this year that I had last year too. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Tomatoes are my absolute favourite, as i said ref. the picture of the tomato - even when they're not ripe, they still look good enough to eat. I do keep all my tags and seed packets, but because I am the clutter queen, especially in my green house, things do wind up in the strangest places, behind plant pots, under seed trays, in my chest of drawers(ex bedroom)which now houses all sorts of odds and endslike seed labels and ties. in the ex broom cupboard where i keep the tall tools, like hoes, spades and rakes. But i did just have a look and i have planted sungold( which is a orangey/red tomato )I grew them last year as well and although they are not as small as gardeners delight they are smaller than average and very sweet and tasty. i am also growing Balconi red, a small red 'tumbler' tomato and Balconi yellow.Yellow of course. the last 2 are supposed to be suitable for growing in containers and they are coming along quite nicely. my dear husband donated one of his wheelbarrows the other year and about 8/10 plants can grow quite comfortably in there. He did also give me another wheelbarrow which i grow spring bulbs and summer annuals in too. Bless him! Going back to tomatoes, I love tomato brown bread sandwiches. the really large toms are the best as you only need one slice of tomato to cover the slice of bread, lovely with either mayo, cheese or ham !!

I can't recall the orange variety I have planted. My wife prefers the small grape tomatoes. I like the large ones for sandwiches etc. They can still be cut into wedges for a sald as well. I'll have to check some of those varieties out next year that you grew. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
