The Disney channel shows of yesteryear

There has been a lot of hate towards those new fad-like Disney channel shows (i.e. Hannah Montana, The Jonas Brothers show, Wizards of Waverly Place). My "era" of Disney channel watching was more from the late 90's to around 2003. I loved a lot of the old live-action shows that used to be on. Like: Even Stevens, The Famous Jet Jackson, So Weird, Boy Meets World, Smart Guy and Lizzie McGuire. I also liked a lot of those old Disney Channel original movies, particularl the 13th Year and Halloween Town. Do you remember any old Disney Channel shows (or original movies)?

I was around for the original Mickey Mouse club in the 50's. I liked that show. It had little adventure episodes like Spin & Marty and it was a lot of fun watching it. We also watched Disney every Sunday evening when they would show a movie, sometimes in several parts. I remember The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh ran at least four 1-hour episodes.

I remember when ABC ran the Wonderful World of Disney. Some weeks you would have cartoon shows with Donald Duck, Mickey, of Goofy. (I remember one with Goofy demonstrating the loss of gravity in outer space.) I also remember some great historical dramas like the Swamp Fox (with Leslie Nielson) or Texas John Slaughter (with Tom Tryon, who later became an author). The later series was in one ay cutting edge. I believe it was the first show to have a black cowboy. Blacks in TV and even movie westerns, were often shown in menial jobs or as slaves, yet I think I heard oven 20% of the cowboys were blacks who were freed slaves looking for new opportunities. I think it would be great if Disney did more historical fiction like the old days to help teach kids rather than giving them drivel to watch.

I was amazed when I watched Glenn Beck recently and saw his special on Black American that helped the Revolutionary War. If not for these brave people we might still be under British rule! I am angry that this is not taught in our schools and is not in our history books. Maybe when all this crap is over--the coming revolution and peacefully taking our country back from the greedy politicians--we can get the history book rewritten honestly.

No, I was more of the nickelodeon guy. Clarissa, Pete & Pete, Hey Arnold, Are you afraid of dark?, The Secret world of Alex Mack... I like most of the Disney animated movies but I can't name any series.

I still like some of the Disney Channel shows, but I agree they are not as good as some of the older shows. I especially loved Smart Guy and The Famous Jett Jackson.
