Will New York shut down on Monday?

Governor Paterson says that after 71 days of deadlock over the budget, the state will shut down. His legislature doesn't believe it, but he says it is coming if they do not pass a budget.
This will mean the shut down of parks, DMV, Courts, lottery, welfare checks would not get mailed as well as unemployment checks.

Has the federal government shut down? No. And congress was suppost to have submitted the new budget for a vote back in April and STILL HAS NOT DONE IT.
I think they will end up agreeing to something..even if it just temporary. The last thing either side wants is a complete shut down.

Do I actually think that it is going to come to this in the state of New York, probably not. It is very common when there is a gridlock in budgets that they will come to some sort of an agreement in the eleventh hour. However, it is possible that they won't come to an agreement and they will close down the government of the state of New York. However, I think that if this does happen, it will force the state to reach a budget quicker than they would have otherwise.
