That is so funny!! Sorry I shouldn't laugh at your misfortunes oh no, I did it again!! To be honest I've never really had any real disasters myself, but as a catering teacher I have seen MANY a disaster, my job was tring to find a way to teach the students to manage to save something from that disatser. However burnt frosting would have been beyond me !!

I'm almost reluctant to make this post because I'm still embarrassed when I think about it Oh well, here goes. For my best friend's birthday, me and another friend was going to bake a cake for him and present it during his birthday. We bought all the ingredients and were going to bake it from scratch. Everything that could go wrong did. The egg whites did not whip well, too much sugar fell into the mix and the butter got burnt. In the end, the cake did come out looking like a cake but it didn't taste like one and all our friends made fun of us for not knowing how to bake correctly.

I love your story that is a good one. I started to learn to cook when I was ten years old and I can only remember one disaster when I was about 21 years old. I had just had a baby and I was making baked mac&cheese. Well I couldn't find yellow cheddar cheese to make it so I brought the white cheddar one. Well it was so disgusting and such a waste it all went in the garbage. Never made that mistake again.

LOL! I have to say that is the kind of thing that I would be inclined to do, but luckily I have not as yet, but I guess there is always the first time! My cooking disaster story... well basically my mum and dad went away on holiday for the first time on their own, and left me and my brother to look after the house, and as I was working part-time, and he was working full time, I was the one to cook his dinner ready for when he came home... well that was fine, until I made home made chips, and put them in to fry, and wooooosh... the oil overflowed, cos I put too many in there, and they were too wet, which also didnt help lol, and in return, I had created a fire on the stove, but because the flames got so high, before I had chance to wet a tea towel to cover the pan of oil.... well my parents cooker hood/ extractor fan thing burnt to pieces! So when they cam home, they were not that amused, but they were ok because they knew that we were ok. But because of that incident, that happened over 15 years ago now, I have never and never will deep fry a thing... If I cook chips now, I do it in the oven lol

Well mine is not quite as interesting but I was melting butter on the pan to get it ready to cook burgers. I started to talk with my sister and totally forgot about it. about 4-6 minutes later flames started rising. was pretty awesome lol

I've reached for the paprika and grabbed the cayenne pepper. Yuck! I've also had the top come off of a spice jar unexpectedly and had the contents pour out.

It was during the first days of our marriage Both of us were trying to impress one another that we know cooking. We started on making chapatis when the dough became dry we added more water and when the dough became too wet we added flour and this went on that we ended up making 19 chapatis but our target was 5 and by the time they were ready it was well past midnight. We both were so sleepy that we went to sleep without dinner. That was the cooking disaster I will never forget but there were many more. It is history now and I am now an expert at cooking.
