Recently I've signed up on getafreelancer.com hoping I might find some work there. I can handle projects about writing / re-writing and web design projects. I bid on some projects but it seems I'm missing something. I think I'm not at convincing people I am suitable for his job ... that's why I want to ask for some advices and some tips.
Thank you for understanding !

I do freelance writing also. I do not do it all the time only mainly when i have time since i work full time now. I did it when i was unemployed for a year. I did not do it on the site you have mentioned but on other sites such as associatedcontent, bukisa and triound. I like these sites because they do pay per page views but sometimes they do have artciles you can choose from and write about as they do pay for you doing them also.
Freelance writing means just writing about whatever you feel like and publishing it at your own risk and that is what these three sites are and you should try them out as they are really good.

good communication skills is also a big factor to get hired and it seems that your good at it since your in writing. Anyway based on my experienced it really important also on how do you convince your future client? make sure you have your portfolio available online in case they(clients) want to see it.
Good luck and welcome to freelancing world

The key is patience and very good skills, there are so much people trying to win bids there, much employers prefer to choose people having a good reviews and is so difficult to new ones get a job there.
I took me almost two months to get my first job there when I was new, just patience and a little of good luck...
