Do you get creative with homemade pizza?

Most of the time when we have pizza, it's homemade. I buy raw dough, a jar of Ragu pizza sauce, some cheese, and whatever toppings we feel like having.
Hubby likes to get very creative with home made pizzas. He makes a chicken wing pizza, breakfast pizza, bbq chicken pizza.. once he did a taco pizza.. and another time a cheeseburger pizza. They've always been very good.. he makes great pizza. He also makes a great garlic sauce too. Sometimes for me instead of sauce he'll dab a bit of olive oil on the dough and sprinkle it with garlic powder and minced garlic, then whatever toppings I like (usually on a garlic pizza I like tomato and broccoli).
I am not as creative as him. I made pizza for dinner tonight, but I kept it fairly simple. One cheese pizza for the kids, a veggie pizza for me with mushrooms, onions, and red, yellow, and orange peppers.. and a bacon pizza for hubby (and I baked the bacon thanks to a suggestion from a Mylot member!! Awesome tip, thanks for that! I'll never fry bacon again!).
How creative do you get with homemade pizzas?

yay baked bacon!
We make our crust and sauce. My hubby makes an awesome crust that we freeze in small pizza size, then we can just pull it out when we want pizza. I make the sauce with tomato paste, a little water and all the spices we want! It is super easy and much cheaper and less crap in it.
The topping really depend on what we have on hand. I utilize pizza to clean things out. Just a little ham.... veggies..... left over bacon or any meat.... you get the picture.
A funny little story - I take care if my dad so we live with him (for now), he says pizza is a snack not a meal, so we make his a calzone and waalaa its dinner! same dam thing but I just fold it over!

I have made the dough and sauce before, but it's time consuming for me. The dough I buy is only $1 and the jars of sauce, which can cover about 3 pizzas is also only about $1... the expensive part is the cheese.

I used to do that too... unfortunately the cost for making bread and dough enough to feed 7 people isn't really worth while for me, between the flour and butter I went through.. and the kids would go through 1 loaf of bread a day!

I haven't made a homemade pizza since before I had kids. But what we used to do was take a boboli, put pizza sauce on, put cheese on and then usually sliced mushrooms. Nothing too very creative...

Kids have lots of fun making homemade pizza... let each one pick out a few toppings they want on their side of the pizza and let them go at it!

We do homemade pizzas every once in awhile. I don't think we get to creative. We usually keep it to the basic stuff. I made a pretty good veggie one with a ranch dressing instead of regular pizza sauce. A chicken wing pizza sounds interesting. Does he actually put the whole chicken wing on the pizza? I haven't tried a breakfast pizza yet, but we have been talking about trying it one time.

We don't get creative with pizzas I buy already made crust and sauce. I want to start making my sauce and crust though it sure would be a lot cheaper.

No we don't use actual chicken wings. We dice up some cooked chicken bre*sts and marinate them in red hot sauce, then put a small layer of the hot sauce on the pizza, then some cheese, then the chicken... it tastes like buffalo wing pizza, the kind Pizza Hut used to serve, it's awesome. A bit on the hot side though.. if spicy bothers you. Since we do 3 pizzas at a time, it's no big for us. Lots of choices for anyone who doesn't like the spice.

Now that I am trying to lose more weight yeah! Less Cheese for me. More in the seasoning department. As for the bacon thing, Hormel sells this real bacon in a jar. It has 50% less fat. And it tastes GREAT. Had it when we made pizza for my nephews birthday. Best part, no bacon clean up at all!!

I am not a big fan of bacon anyways.. thankfully. I'm fine with the veggies.. and I use a whole wheat dough too.

Hey kats! Wow! I must admit I've never attempted to make pizza
before but all of those that you've suggested sound delicious!
When I do have pizza I usually just get regular slices and
very rarely have anything else on it! And I do love pizza! I
don't know why I've never tried to make one myself! I have
made little English Muffin pizzas for myself years ago, but
that was as far as I went!

Hubby used to make those when he was a kid, and we've done it a few times for our kids. One day we were sort of broke, so we made english muffin pizzas for the kids and hubby and I ordered a large pizza for ourselves to split, because we couldn't afford to buy the usual 3 pizzas it takes to feed our family. The kids enjoyed it, and they loved being able to make them themselves!

The thing that is so great about pizza is that you CAN do some many different things with it. A lot of which aren't necessarily conventional. I absolutely love pizza. My mom sometimes makes this homemade pizza and instead of pizza sauce, she uses barbecue sauce and puts chicken and pineapple on top of it. It's absolutely delicious and I love it. I wish I could make it myself. I might have to try to figure it out soon since I'm living on my own and haven't been able to have it in awhile because of it.

Yes, I do.
Most of the commercial pizzas in my country Malaysian are kosher. It means it is pork-free.

I try to use ingredients that I like in other dishes, such as my favorite spices, or certain types of meat that I like. You can also try using different cheeses, either one new sauce per pizza, or even to mix several different types of cheese together and use that mix on your pizza. It doesn't sound like it would make much of a difference, I know, and a lot of people think most cheeses taste the same, but it adds a really nice and personal touch to the pizza I think!
