Have you ever built anything? What was it?

How did you feel when it was finished? Did you enjoy yourself? Were you exhausted? Was it worth it? Did you do it for free? I have never built anything, although I've been trying to pick up on some new hobbies and start on some stuff, since I never do anything, and I'd like to do something recreational with my family, and get away from TV and computers...... (No offense MyLot=)) I know that Habitat for Humanity helps build homes for people. but sometimes they want you to travel, something I really can't do, nor have time for, although I'm sure I could make time for it........ I think it would be great to build anything, like a new home for someone, or even a bird house. You know what I think would great though? Building my own furniture, and finishing it myself. Or building bird houses, dog houses......... I dunno, carpentry would be something I'd like to try one day. I've been trying to be more spontaneous with what I do, you know, thinking outside the box, doing a MAN"S work. (Something my own husband doesn't even do.... Sigh=/)

We live in the country and we are always building something. One time when my son was young, he & i built a small box with roof for our cat to go into when it was cold and no one home to let it into the house to get warm. He got sick and was put into the hospital. A local minister (that we did not know) stopped in to talk. Conversation went on and my son said he had made a cat house. The poor man did not know what to say. We explained what it was and the mans face finally went back to a normal color.
