I believe that you are responsible for creating your own happiness. But have you ever been so unhappy that it was slowly turning into depression because it looked as if every direction you took to get out of your "funk" you seemed stuck? Please share how you got out of your "funk".

I also believe that God opens doors for you as he closes others...but I also believe that he puts you in a situation for a reason. He won't make you do anything that he knows you can't handle...with a "No Door" policy.

I know what you're talking about, Rosey. You sort of feel like nothing's new, your life is going in one direction (and it's not up), you're not really interested in things because it all seems boring and then you find yourself looking for something but you have no idea WHAT it is.... I've been there and I think most people have too;) How do I get out of that "funk" before it turns into depression (or if I am already feeling depressed, how I get OUT of it?) These 4 simple things always change things for me: 1. Get your butt outside. Take a good hike through some secluded woods or a large park that's not full of people. It's hard to not feel more alive when you're IN nature. THEN, you might find yourself thinking about one thing over and over and THAT might be what you should change. Maybe it's that you want to find love, are ready for children, want a different job, a new place to live, a pet, to begin cooking, who knows?! 2) Before you go to bed that night, get a pad and pen. Make a list of things to do the next day-it could be 3 things or 20 things. And it could be anything from: Wake up, walk 1 block before breakfast, to: Cook dinner, do not buy fast food/already made dinner. 3. MAKE yourself do them. You might wake up and feel energized about your day or you might not feel like it and want to put it off, but DON'T. 4. Check off the things on your list as you do them or at the end of the day. After a few days of this, you WILL feel different and you WILL have discovered something new.

All I gotta say is...WOW!! That was very insightful!! And you are definitely right about taking a nature hike. I used to do that when I had a woodsy area to walk through...now it is a hot desert...ICK!! But thank you for your very positive and insightful response!!

Yes i do believe that we are all responsible for creating our own happiness, But yes sometimes life looks so grim and not worth living for and you do slide deeper and deeper in depression! That is when your need assistance and help from those around to help you get your "Funk" back!

Well, we all get there. How do you get out of it? Well, you find something that interests you. Once your attention is away from your 'funk' as you call it then you are OK, back to normal.
