Why people have bad feeling against AMD Athlon computers?

What is wrong with AMD Athlon? When I look at the ad from the local computer stores weekly offers, they got some good deal with laptop and desktop. While I asked my friends opinion, they shake their head against AMD Athlon processor Vs Intel. What is wrong with it? Why they have bad review against it? What is your opinion toward AMD Athlon?

I use

AMD Athlon 64x2 2.8ghz

very fast no hassle, It just a marketing scheme for intel.

ohhh i was referring to my desktop, and you mean AMD on laptops, they heat up more with AMD. For laptops buy the intel made.

I don`t know, on home system i`m with AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ and it`s ok. AMD is cheaper, but Intel built-in a new technologies in their processors. Every people had choice, cheaper and powerful AMD or expensive and with newest technologies builted Intel.
