*If you would like to skip the reading: Backwards masking, What are your opinions on the matter? So I was listing to a whole bunch of songs that supposedly had a bunch of backwards masking in them. I personally believe that it is weird that some words translate into actual English sentences when played backwards, but really I think its sometimes so indistinguishable that people just make up what it could possibly be if you were to choose a word to fit into the sentence. Make sense? Like if I said "I eat two apples on Monday" and somewhere my voice jumped up or down for some reason you could have easily also heard "I eat tadpoles on Monday." Which is totally not what I said but it was interpreted that way because of the intonation, or the way i said the words, that changed the way you heard it. I agree some of them are pretty easy to hear and I also admit some of them kind of scared me a bit, but I don't really know what to think of these accusations. I really don't believe that record companies would go out of their way to make backwards masking within their music, sometimes its done on purpose like in Missy Elliott's song, but I can't say that its something I believe they do on a regular basis. I think we have evolved past the idea that Satan is trying to corrupt our weak minds through music, and I'm not just trying to get religious because the song "another one bites the dust" apparently says 'its fun to smoke marijuana' backwards. Technology has come so far and we can do so many things with it, its not hard to believe why people just eat this stuff up as truth. So on to my quesiton I would like to hear your opinions on this subject, whether you have a positive or negative response to this I'd like to hear both view points. Thanks! -Scott

seriously, why would anybody want to listen to a song backwards? backmasking is stupid. we use words in so many ways and it's so easy to come up with an unpleasant sounding gibberish when you listen to it backwards. i don't believe in messages hidden in songs, i don't think songwriters would make them in such a way that it'll have another meaning when you want to mess up your records.
