Many great cooks around us are men. They are creative and talented and has satisfied the cravings of many. Yet, women cook at homes from ancient days. Why is that?

I think this is because of the roles and stereotypes that are adopted. Women, being at home, raising children, cooking and keeping the house nice and clean is not a job, while the man is the provider who works for bringing home the money. Many of the things that women do without being paid is called a "career" or job when men do it. Luckily, in this day and age the society is getting more equal, but there is still the problem of women falling back in their careers when they are home with their children etc. That is the same in the restaurant business as in all other areas of business.

True. Women give up their career to look after the family. Some avoid high position because of job responsibilities. Good response.

Good for you, but how about the cleaning part. Do you do that? Usually, they can make kitchen a mess.

about the topic: i think if your husband is a cook, then you will most certainly have a man cook, but i think more men do not know their way around the kitchen.. and though many are great cooks, maybe it is because these men stand the heat more in of the kitchen in a professional setting.

Why? The main role of a woman is to serve her husband, but not as a slave. Cooking is one way of showing that she cares for her husband. Ever heard of the saying that one way to a man's heart is through his stomach? What is meant here is home cooked meals. In fact some men expect their spouse to cook for them even though tastier food can be found elsewhere.

It is one of those steriotypes from years back in which has continued in the lives of many past down through generations. My mother-in-law has often lectured me and given me cookbooks in order to 'follow tradition' as she doesnt like the fact my husband is actually the main cook of the house and a good one at that - he even cleans up after himself in the kitchen which is an added bonus. I think I actually make more mess cooking than he does!

i guess because to stereotype, men are to work hard and get a job for the family and women are to stay at home to take care of the kids... and so, it has been the women's responsibility to do the household chores and cooking is one of them...

Well, men are said to be more creative I think in cooking. Women, cook at home because of what we think and what most of people see women.
