What was the purpose for which the Universe was created

Here on my lot we all follow some religion or the other. However, there are exceptions that some do not follow any religion at all. My question is for those who follow the religion. The question is does your religion has an answer to the question, "What was the purpose for which the Universe was created". Does the answer have any explanation? Does the explanation make any sense? Does the explanation rely on assumptions that are not themselves justified?

No doubt one God Almighty had created this universe so that he is recognized and worshiped as one God Almighty. He Himself tells us our aim of life in the Holy Quran: "I HAVE NOT CREATED THE JINN AND MEN EXCEPT FOR THIS THAT THEY SHOULD WORSHIP ME." (Surah Adh-dhariyat-57,The Holy Quran) I hope it is clear to you now.Thanks.

Yes I agree with you because if someone begins to worship an actor he begins to emulate him and if we worship God we emulate God. Therefore God want us to worship Him but because God is formless, He had sent His visible image on earth, His own Son Jesus Christ so we may emulate Him and be like Him.

This is your great misconception that God Almighty had sent his own son to this earth to be worshiped by us.In fact He has no relative at all and polytheism is the biggest and the only unforgivable sin in the last truest and the most safest holy Book, the Quran.Pl do not worry Jesus(pbuh)was never killed on the cross but was lifted above by God Almighty. He is still alive in heavens and waiting for the divine orders to come back to this earth again to clear all these doubts and self-created taboos........Let's wait for him !!

Once upon a time I used to be a practising Catholic but then I decided to give up on religion as I genuinely believed that I wasn't getting anywhere with it! I always had the big questions in my mind though, questions about our existence, why we're here and lots of other very indepth questions! I'm more inclined towards the scientific view now that we originated from the so called 'Big Bang'! I don't want to tread on anyone's toes here but I believe that religion is very helpful to a lot of people and it gives hope. I don't understand the full implications of our existence here on Earth but I think something is definitely going on. Our anatomy is just so fantastic and everything works so perfectly that there has to be some kind of intelligence behind what we are! There are so many different views that could be possible! I'm just speculating but could we been created by a superior, advanced alien race? Perhaps they have mastered technology to such an extent, in relation to genetic engineering, that they were able to create biological life forms! The Universe is so vast and is constantly growing and expanding and it just seems illogical that there isn't something else out there. If there is a purpose to all of this I suppose it relates to each and every person living a life of kindness and gentleness towards their fellow man or woman! Ultimately, religion is not for me but I do believe that there is something after this life whether it be energy, spirit form or whatever! Andrew

In my opinion, creation of this Universe is not related with any religion! Universe is Universal to religions, as Sun, Rains, Wind, Earth, Space, Gravitation etc. So, we can interpret, as God is above any religion so also the creation of this Universe! Then next is the purpose... That is a function of Time and Space only, which are the two fundamental entities of creation as per God's imagination! Thanks for this thought-provoking topic and hope our creation in this Universe will be well purposeful!!

Though my family is a religious one but I being a b. tech. student have less belief in it. But I am sure that the reasons gives by any religion will be just based on assumptions and not on real facts. There are many assumptions made in religions based on just nothing. And these things are generally more prevalent in developing countries like India(where is reside). But yes, things are changing now a days and people are now understanding how things actually work.

Thanks for answering this question, though it was not meant for you since you do not believe in any religion. Since you have a scientific background you can at least tell why universe exist and what purpose does it serve?
