Chalube passed away

Some time during the night our sweet Chalube went to the Bridge. The roomie had said he was seeming a bit better yesterday, but I have noticed that people and animals seem to do just a bit better before they die. I, like the roomie, had hoped he was actually doing better, but it it seems to have not been. Have you ever noticed it?

Awwww, I'm really sorry ElicBxn. I guess it's for the better, right? Yes, I have noticed that in people and animals. It's the will to live and that's the last ounce of energy put forth to stay alive. It's amazing and we always hope they're getting better. When I worked in a garden center taking care of the houseplants, I noticed some plants will do this also. They will end up pushing out one last bloom, or one last leaf, and then die. Amazing how this happens in all forms of life. Again, I'm sorry for your loss.

aww:( i'm so sorry. yea, some seem to have a last "rally".i've had relatives that were borderline comatose before the end that had one last moment of clarity. it's almost like they're allowed a goodbye.

I am sorry for your loss ElicBxn it can be just as hard on us when we lose a loved pet as when we lose a special loved one in our lives. Yes I had noticed inthe case with my mother that she seemed to be doing real good a few days before she passed away, alert, knowing who we all where and very talkaive, before she slipped into a dimensia state and quitely passed away. I remember now thinking when hopsice people told me she only had a couple days at most that they where crazy as mom was seeming so fine. I guess it was her way of trying to keep us from suffering for loseing her. I am thankful I had those good days with her. Good luck to you and again I am so sorry for your loss.

thanks, Lakota, I didn't really start this for the sympathy, but because I needed to let folks know because I had previously posted about him being sick.

I am so sorry for the loss of your kitty. And often times loved ones rather they be cats or people seem to get a bit better before they pass or perhaps it is that they only seem better to us, the people who don't want them to leave. A loss is always hard be it of people or pets. I offer my sympathies to you for your loss.

It is weird isn't it. Maybe its nature way of giving us one more moment with our loved ones before they are gone.

Aaaaawww, ElicBxn, I am so very sorry about your sad loss. I certainly know the pain when we lose our beloved pets. Yes, at times pets as well as people seem to do and look better just before passing. I hope time heals your wounds very soon.

Thanks. in this case, I wasn't surprised he passed, just where, and when it happened, he was a sick kitty I am sad he's gone, but he never was much at interacting with me as much as the roomie. He was like one of the few cats that didn't fall head over tail in love with me...

Not with animals, but funny you should mention this particular "phenomenon". Last Thursday I found out that a dear friend of mine was suffering from brain cancer and wasn't expected to survive the weekend. This came as a total surprise to me, since I've know this women for many years, and she always appeared to be in the peak of health. A slightly stalky lady she was, and a trifle on the heavy side...loudly funny, kind of like Bea Arthur's Maude character, but that was just her way of fooling around. She really was a sweetheart underneath, and was always there should anybody ever need anything...an extremely kind and generous woman. But what really got to me was...last Saturday, I went over to her house and spoke to her eldest son, who told me that she was now down to about 70 pounds. What!!?? OMG!! He then said; "Yeah, but you know what? I just came back from seeing her (in the hospital) and today she's as chipper as ever. Better than I've seen her in a long time!" Sunday (next day), she quietly passed away. Strange isn't it? cdrxo

Thank you, and sorry to hear about your friend too. Just shortly after last Christmas, my girlfriend's 12 year old calico had to be put down. The weird thing about it was, that she was as chipper and energetic as ever, the day before. I think, they somehow "know" what's coming, and in those few moments, if not hours before, God grants them a sort of "last euphoric revival taste", of what it was like to be loved, fully alive, and happy...something to remember and, "take with them", as they go on toward that next journey home in the sky. cdrxo

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember the day I lost my kitten. She was just 2 with me for 2weeks but I loved her dearly. Until now, the memory bring tears in my eyes. Especially when I hear the song "My Girl" by The Temptations. I do hope you and your roomies and other cats are okay. I'll pray for you guys, and Chalube as well.

The roomie is still bound to tear up expectedly now and then, but we are resigned and it wasn't totally unexpected. We will survive. Thanks.

So sorry to hear about Chalube. He was much loved I know. You will miss him, but the ache from his loss will get better with time. I have heard of this happening that pets and people seem stronger and better just before they die, but I have not witnessed it myself. Here are warm hugs for you.

I always kind of felt that he was just living here, waiting, and I hope it was waiting until he could rejoin his first owner. Now, I think he has.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Chalube. And, yes, I have seen that too in animals and humans. They seem to make one last rally before the pass. I know that he is happy now with all the other furbabies of all of ours on Rainbow Bridge. But, no matter how many times I say this, or if I knew the animal, I can't handle talking about so RIP Chalube, and know that you were so loved. Love, Leslie

I am so very sorry for your loss. I do believe that in a lot of cases it is true that very sick animals and people appear better only to go downhill rapidly. My cat seemed like that before the end; I became really hopeful only to lose him two days later. Chalube is running around at Rainbow Bridge right now and he is happy...Again, I am sorry Elic...

I'm sorry to hear about Chalube. I have noticed that in people and animals. My grandmother wsa very ill...long story...and I was just a child at the time. She had been barely alert and sometimes would go a couple of days without waking..may have been the medicine but anyway..the day before she passed..she requested people to come see her..she sit up most all day in a chair and wanted her hair brushed. So odd. I also had a cat that I was very close to that hadn't been sick at all but one day that cat wanted to be all over me all day...purring and snuggling everytime I sit down. When I wasn't sitting down, she was rubbing my legs and wanting me to pet her. She passed that night too.

I'm sorry for your loss. But it seems most living things have that one last burst of strength. In a way of trying to get what they need finished before passing on. Its completely natural and deceiving. But, animals also want their owners to remember them as happy and healthy. They don't want them to remember the sick and dying. I guess they want to reduce our pain. I'm sorry for your loss. I've lost my share of pets in the past. I know how you feel.
