Lamar Odom in Place of Andrew Bynum

Giving up a lot of weight and muscles is Lamar Odom. The pressure is on him to deliver in game 5. With the injury that Bynum suffered, Odom will take full responsibility of gaining a lot of minutes and will surely be the man in place of for Bynum. He will give up weight if he matches up with Glen Davis. But then, he has that perimeter jumpers and quickness to maneuver pass the big men of the celtics.

Lamar is freakishly dangerous when he's hot. He can throw the ball up with either hand, from any angle, and it has a chance of going in. He can also create his own shot from anywhere on the perimeter. And if you foul him, he's also a knock-down free throw shooter. He's like LeBron James in the sense that he's large, athletic and able to dribble drive (although James is a 9.5 and Odom is a 7... but still). However, Lamar can run colder than Alaskan tap water. And unlike a guy like Ray Allen who will continue to ball 100% while playing poorly, Odom has a habit of packing it up and giving a lackluster effort on the court. If Odom is going to be playing more, I think it creates an interesting dynamic. What does Phil Jackson do if Doc Rivers decides to play Big Baby and KG at the same time? Either one of those guys will post Odom up and either score often or get him in foul trouble. And if KG gets hot and Pal has to be the one guarding him, then Gasol won't even be able to help in the post. Davis will be there 1-on-1 with Odom and if Fisher, Kobe or Artest drop down, this leaves Rondo available for any type of backdoor cut (money), Pierce open for a mid-range jumper (money), or Allen open for a three-pointer in space (money when he's hot). It's up to the Lakers to take the game over on the offensive end and outscore the Celtics, because I don't think they'll be able to stop Boston without Bynam. Well, unless Boston has another night of 12 missed layups and 16 missed 10-footers. But what championship team wants to put their hopes on the other team missing shots?

The overall performance of Lamar Odom against the Celtics is not as impressive. He struggles facing the Celtics. I think that he should be aggressive in order to make some play for the Lakers and to help Kobe Bryant. He can be unstoppable if given the chance to play with confidence. Game 6 would be the telling factor by Lamar.

Andrew Bynum will still start for the Lakers tonight and I'm sure Lamar Odom will give a big performance again if Bynum does come out of the game again due to his Knee Injury. I feel that if Bynum can get between 8 and 8 and 10 and 10 then the Lakers will win tonight. I am really looking forward to tonight's game but with a slight dread also as I really don't want the Celtics to lead 3-2 going back to LA.
