England Ended draw in their first match and it was due to the blunder mistake by their goalkeeper and they may have lost the match if on the second mistake of the goalkeeper has not been saved by the goal post. Do u think he deserves a second chance at this level. He was just playing an ordinary game as if he is palying a friednly match. I Myself was a professional football player few years back and I havenot seen such mistakes even, when we used to play for our school. Dont u Think he should be screwed? Or Do you think He should be given another Chance? Give your views

Do not get me wrong but this is not some level isnt it this is one of the highest or the most highest level of football they are playing so in case i was in the shoes of Robert green i would have peed my pants off because he has been replaced against English no 1 keeper David James so there will be some sort of nervousness. Other you played football and you always know that you cannot play good football everyday cant you someday you play well ,someday you do not play well the same goes to them actually maybe you can say that it was not his day. Robert green is a fantastic keeper and can improve more so i think maybe he got to get another chance.

jagjit273, First of all, it is undeniable that Rob Green, the England goalkeeper had made a blunder in dealing with that shot from Clint Dempsey, the US striker. It is a mistake which had happened to every professional goalkeeper including England's formers like Peter Shilton, Ray Clemence and others. If it is not enough, then you should watch the recent concluded match between Algeria and Slovenia where the Slovenian goalkeeper had committed the same mistake and cost his team victory. It would be wrong to place the entire blame on him for England's draw result and bench him for the rest of the campaign. For one, soccer is a team sport and even though USA had managed to score to level, but the whole team is responsible for not being able to capitalize on so many scoring sitters. The finishing of the team was just below par. Hence, I feel that Rob Green should not be blamed and should be given another chance. Please do not be too quick to taint him and may I remind you that had it not been for him England would have lost the match when he made a point blank range shot off a closing 2nd half effort from the US team. To be fair, Rob Green had redeemed himself for that blunder he committed during the match and he deserves another chance on the first team for the next match. I see a lot of potential and he is the goalkeeper to watch. Have a nice day.

I've never really had an interest in football but when it comes to the World Cup I do like to tune in to see how England get on! I did watch their first game and I thought they did really well with Steven Gerard's goal! The game was getting really exciting from that point on, if only they could have maintained their lead! Things were going well until the England goalkeeper made that mistake! If I think rationally about this we are talking about the World Cup here and I don't think there's room for mistakes like that! I don't think he should be given another chance, not at this level! Everyone makes mistakes sure but when I saw it on the tv it just looks so bad! Anyway, I will be tuning into England's next game and I'm kind of hoping that the goalkeeper is replaced. This is only my opinion, I don't have any experience as you do in relation to football. I really hope that England do well and that we can win the next game with flying colours! Good luck England! Andrew

Fault Is not on Robert, but all team! They had started great, scored and just stopped to play! They deserved it! No one would like to watch that kind of miserable football. This is the main reason I hate national team of Italy and I wish they will fail asap.

Personally, I am a huge fan of David James. He seems to have got better with age and he trains the hardest of anybody in the England squad. He should be given a chance in the next game in my opinion. I have seen him a few times on telly playing for Portsmouth and he can even save penalties, he's brilliant at reading where the ball goes. For Capello to give him the No.1 shirt beforehand then leave him out of the 11 man squad was unforgiveable...and extremely mean. David James for me. He could be our hero if given the chance! He's also extremely fit..despite the mad hair. Haha!

why are you always bother the mistake .the goalkeeper also don't want to do that .yesterday .there happened the similar mistake in another game .so .I think that's not all of the goalkeeper's foul.maybe it's the ball's foul.

I think it was a poor piece of goal keeping. A few people are trying to pin the blame on the Jabulani ball, but to me it was just poor keeping. I mean look at his positioning behind the ball. The body was not even covering the path of the ball. It was really school boyish stuff out there. I think it should be James or Hart in the goal for the next match. Cheers! Ram

Mistake is human nature but some unlucky people like green make mistakes at the most elaborate of situations. I think he should not be treated badly because of this single mistake. Although it was a big big blunder but he still kept his nerves and saved a very good strike which was 90% a goal. A similar mistake or even worse was made by manchester united goal keeper Van Der Sar but who can question his ability as a goalkeeper. So you cannot punish a world class goal keeper for a single mistake

When Capello picked his team my 14 year old son put his head in his hands and said 'he's picked cr@p goalies' Green should be sent home and just stick any kid off the streets there - he's do better!!

In my opinion, Capello should play a more experienced goalkeeper. After watching Robert Green's performance, I don't think he is ready for a big tournament like World Cup because he is lack of experience. Perhaps, Capello can play David James in that position. Additionally, goalkeeper has always been the weakness in the England Team. England has never had a good goalkeeper since the era of Gordon Banks in the 1960s.

Well, after his fundamental mistake at the WORLD CUP, I doubt Rob Greene will be coming to the next World Cup in four years. England should have won that game and it was very disappointing for all their fans. I wonder what will happen in the coming years.
