Reading story book is so much fun but reading a school book from which your exam is going to be set up is a real trouble. Why ?

Maybe it's because reading a school book is something that we have to take seriously. We have to do it whether we like it or not and to make everything worse, we have to take the exam after finishing it to check our comprehension. That's why it is so troublesome and becomes a burden. On the other hand, reading a story book is something that we can do in fun way and usually the topic of the book is within our interests. We don't have to take any exam after reading it. Maybe there are only one or two questions about the book from our friends which are not a burden for us.

I also wonder why is it like that. I wonder why we dont have much enthusiasm when it comes to our school books. When I started reading it I felt sleepy already. But when I am reading my favorite novel I end up sleeping late about 2 am or 3 am just to finish the novel. Maybe because we dont put some passion when reading the books. We are only reading it just for the fact that we would like to pass the examination. Sometimes we ignore the importance of reading those school books because we feel bored with lots of information. Unlike some story books or novel we imagine our self to be one of the character. There are some excitement in reading those materials. Unlike school books we could not imagine our self being in that situation. That's how I interpret our behavior.

I think reading the thought of memorizing the content in the school books also ake them dull and boring

i think it is because the subject you are studying may not be one of your particular interest, so you find it boring.

Because you're not interested, most likely. The book is no longer meant to entertain you, it's meant to educate you. I'm an avid reader, but it took awhile before I was able to read books for school without drifting off or throwing them to the side with a huff. I find that when I finish books I don't enjoy on my leisure time I can read schoolbooks and absorb the information I'm reading better.

Anything that is work can seem much worse in hindsight. For instance, there were many stories that I have read in literature class in the past. I am sure I would enjoy these stories if they were not for school. However, they tend to seem much more boring. Therefore, considering its work, I am able to not enjoy reading it as much. Plus, most textbooks in general are dry. Of course, they have to relay certain information that cannot be made exciting in any way. They have to be read but it can seem long. A twenty, twenty five, thirty page chapter of information in a text books can seem like hundreds of pages, depending on the book. As I said, anything that seems like work will seem worse. I personally like to read for fun but when I'm forced to read something, then there's a problem.
