hello zenki, What I know is, if someone made mistake with the account number it will not going to be processed by the bank but that is if it doesn't matches any of the existing account in their server/manifest. If the transaction was made over the counter it will be easy as well as with ATM's because it will inform you immediately that the account was wrong our doesn't exist. But in an event that you mistakenly deposited a certain amount and was posted on the wrong account number, you may contact the bank if the said amount is not yet withdrawn by the other party and you can possibly retrieve it and state your side. I am sure that person you may get that money still has it on his account since he doesn't have the knowledge about it, then bank may hold the amount.

thanks for the answer. Will the account name play a role here, since there will be some sort of descrepancy that the account name and account number does not match?

Nowadays, if you deposit to a specific bank you can't make any error similar to what you said because once you deposit you need to fill up the deposit slip with the account number and the recipient name. If the account number did not much to the recipient name, teller will call you and tell the account and the name did not much. They won't accept your deposit if you will not change the name or account number. This situation might apply to the latest technology mobile banking and internet banking because only account number needed to transfer but you can notify the bank that you made a wrong entry.

hello zenki, I am sorry i can't really answer it completely, because this has never happened to me before. that's why it's imperative that we should write our account number in the paper slip so that you can just write it down and then throw it away when you're down. of course, it only works if you don't remember it. but as much as possible try avoiding writing the wrong account number.

You can always contact your bank about the error you have made. Just hope that the money is still not withdrawn because I don't know if you can still get it back when that happens. Contact your bank and ask them what's the best thing to do.
